Froggy’s Seventh Heaven – from Hoppin’ Frog. 16 oz can picked up at the brewery (Rare Beer Club from 2023). In reefer at store, acquired 02/08/23, $ 10.66 (Including tax), $ 0.66/fl oz. Reviewed 20/08/23 (Review 3148). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Stamped on bottom of can “BEST BY MAY 23 2033” (I think – EXCEEDINGLY difficult to read). Stored at 34 degrees at home. Served at 53.7 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 57.0 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Amber Brown (SRM 18), clear.
Body – Ruby Brown (SRM 24), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear lite, light penetration at the edges (red amber).
Head: Average (Maximum 1.5 cm, aggressive center pour), wheat, high density, quickly contracting to a 0.2 cm crown and a thin, partial cap.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 4 – The famous “dark fruit” of non-specificity. No yeast, no malt, no hops. No ethanol (16.4 % ABV according to the label).
Flavor – 4.25 – Begins slightly sweet with the “dark fruits, and the higher-than-expected ethanol content” typicality expected of the style, although there is a slightly bitter underlying note. No yeast, no hops. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Initially, little gastric warming, very smooth. As the temperature increases, the gastric warming evolves to oral incendiaries – oddly, my hard palate burns while the heat in my stomach subsides.
Palate – 4 – Full; bordering on syrupy; soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4.25 An OK example of the style for us non-connoisseurs. It has the expected “dark fruits” flavoring and the sweetness expected, the slightly sticky mouthfeel, and the gastric warming. Good but not exceptional.

Darker than I was expecting, the pour appears mahogany, but under light it fills in the glass to a dark yet clear garnet while building a level tan head that slowly fizzles to a thin collar with a soft lily pad.

My immediate impression on the nose is fresh plum but with a touch of cinnamon-forward baking spices.

Taste is more potent and warming spiced rum and figgy pudding with a gingersnap exhale.

The medium body has a sparse yet expansive fizz that comes to a stingingly semi-sticky finish. Still, it's far less abrasive than I thought it might be for the ABV, and just really damn well-made.
