Turbid dark brown, nearing mahogany, with a thin tan head that fizzles out to a thin but creamier ring instantaneously.

The nose is mildly boozy and fairly woody, but more like coconut shell than oak, while the palate is fizzly, almost crisp, and fluid, but also boozy. Yet it avoids being harsh, delivering a less juvenile flavor profile than the base, translating more rum-like with a leafy malt.

However, looking back at my old reviews, I actually think the barrel tamed this a little, as I always found the base to be a little more sharp and barleywine-like. This is a bit more porter-like, with a light rum-soaked coconut accent.
