Poured from tap at the brewery, the beer is a handsome brown-orange. Neither head nor lacing.

Aroma is a mix of clove, sugar, and fruit. Tate follows nose with added elements of a light
Mezcal like smokiness and Candi sugar. Apples and pears are other flavors that work with the booze. I had hopes of a more aggressive alcohol presence but the uber heavy malt is a difficult foe.

Heavy mouthfeel with light carbonation.

This is the last of 4 different barrel variants of Pentuple. Whike they’ve all been damn good, none have topped the base beer. I wasn’t expecting that because I’m not a huge fan of Tripels but this seried is awesome. I’m fairly certain this is the only beer I’vr rver seen that’s aged in sotol barrels, how unique. Let’s dive right in

Pours a cloudy brownish orange with just a thin ring of off white bubbles, obviously leaving no lacing. Damn, these are mostly all ugly

The nose is more earthy on this one, it’s similar to the others but stands on its own. I’m picking up on aromas of red grape, grass, toasted oak, golden raisin, brown sugar, baked apple, pear skin, light mint, and dark toast

Oh wow, it’s really something unique in taste, even more earthy for an interesting balance. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting brown sugar, prune, fresh cut grass, smooth oak, cherry pit, black tea, poached pear, mint, and burnt caramel. The swallow brings notes of baked apple, mint, charred oak, black pepper, fresh cut grass, overripe banana, molasses, mint, red grape, and a touch of diesel

A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a slick yet airy beer. Finishes mostly dry and obviously drinks below its abv

I’ll be damned, this is certainly the most interesting one. It takes the already odd-for-the-style base beer and brings it in an even weirder direction that I can really appreciate. I could definitely use more of this one

Dark copper with a short head of tiny khaki bubbles.

Setting the (deliciously) maple syrupy, dark fruity base aside, this is surprisingly herbal and grassy on the nose, as well as black peppery on the palate, especially relative to the other Pentuple variants. Its herbality even leans into botanical minerals while skirting any full on smokiness, accenting the central barleywine-esque showcase in very unique ways.

Intriguingly tasty, it's very easy to put down an 8 ounce can, as it's also somehow less boozy!
