When we first met you, didn’t realize, we can’t forget you or your surprise. You introduced us to our mind, and left us watching you and your kind, “Maybe it’s not too late to learn how to love and forget how to hate.”

RIP Ozzy. Brownish black opaque body with a brown head. Big bitter clove with other lesser baking spices, slightly roasted malt, cocoa and earth in nose. Taste adds a significant amount of pumpkin to go with the spices, especially ginger and nutmeg, and for 2/3 of the sip that is the powerful leading duo. Roasted malts and earth support, but then that last third has kind of an astringent metallic bitterness. Feel is spiced and somewhat spiced, again the harsh finish cannot be ignored. The Prince of darkness deserved better

Croak at the Moon from Hoppin’ Frog. Four-pack of 16 fl oz cans picked up at the brewery, 16/10/25 - $23.38 (Including tax and tip)/$ 0.365/fl oz. Reviewed 20/10/25, review 3615. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Bottom of can stamped “BEST BY AUG 28 2028.” Stored at home at 40 degrees F. Served at 42.6 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 57.3 degrees F.
Appearance – 4
First pour – Amber Brown (SRM 18), nearly opaque.
Body – Black (SRM 40), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, same, with light penetrating at the edges, ruby brown.
Head – Average (Maximum 1.3 cm, aggressive center pour). Caramel, high density, average retention, turning wheat as it oxygenates, leaving a 0.4 – 0.5 cm crown and a complete cap.
Lacing – Good. Mountains and islands of near-microscopic bubbles partially coat the inside of the snifter.
Aroma – 3 – Virtually none - no hops, no malt, no alcohol, no pumpkin, and thankfully, no pumpkin spices.
Flavor – 3.5 – Begins weakly bitter with allspice. Not picking up any clove, but some weak ginger – the spice presence increases as the brew warms but never becomes obnoxious. No hops, no malt, no pumpkin, no alcohol (9.8 % ABV, according to the label). No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Mild gastric warming.
Palate – 3 – Medium: Watery approaching creamy: Lively carbonation.
Style: According to BA, any style with any combination of pumpkin and/or spices. Useless description.
Final impression and summation: 3.5 Uncredited but quite nice “adapted” art work. Not much flavor and less aroma. Adapted Black Sabbath/Ozzy lyrics as “description.” Fruit Fly ignored.
