Look: It pours very dark brown with a brown head. It has average head retention.

Smell: There are chocolate and coffee aromas up front. The area background notes of bourbon and nuts. There are low levels of cherry tobacco. There are hints of honey and molasses.

Taste: It has roast flavors with cherries and coffee. It has some light bourbon and oak notes with a bit of molasses and very low nuts. There is a touch of tobacco.

Feel: It has a full body with alcohol warming.

Overall, a wonderful array of complex flavors that blend really well together.

Poured black with a one inch fluffy khaki head that left blotchy lacing. Smells of coffee, chocolate, bourbon, molasses, vanilla and oak. Tastes of semi-sweet chocolate, bourbon, coffee, honey, molasses, vanilla, oak, toffee, dark fruits and a hint of char . Full bodied, light to medium carbonation, creamy mouth feel.

Thanks, Chad!

Got this and some other goodies from Chad. This was probably the highlight as it would be my first Eclipse review. Was even more excited with the 2016 bottled on date. Only thing I really saw for the description was on the bottle, which read, “Imperial stout brewed with honey aged on oak barrels.”

Poured a pitch black color with 2-to-3 fingers of khaki-white head. Just a few bubbles creeping up toward the top of the glass, but really calm overall. Very good spotty lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.25)

Smelled oaky wood, earthy leather, honey, toffee, caramel, cocoa, smooth bourbon, brown sugar, molasses, brown sugar, milk chocolate, vanilla, coffee malts, fig and raisin. A little darker and richer from the bottle. (Smell - 4.25)

Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose, but still solid. In order got oaky wood, earthy leather, honey, cocoa, chocolate, toffee, caramel, smooth bourbon, brown sugar, molasses, vanilla, date, fig, raisin, hints of coconut, semi-char wood and anise. Got better as it went down. Smooth for 12 pct. ABV. (Taste - 4.25)

Full body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, slightly smoky finish. (Feel - 4.50)

A really nice beer overall. Glad I got the chance to try it. (Overall - 4.25)

L: Jet black color, one finger brown head, messy lacing, light carbonation.

S: Coffee, chocolate.

T: Dark chocolate, coffee. Very balanced. No trace of honey though. At least not the kind of honey that I grew up to call honey...

F: Full bodied, subdued but enough flavors.

O: Decent imperial stout. Would I seek again? No, but that's ok.
