Dark barleywine, dark brown, 1/2" of tan head. Aroma was amazing, bourbon was decadent, just right, just as good if not better than the EC12 Eclipse. Wood prominent.
Really smooth, not hoppy, plenty of caramel and toffee, minimal cocao like chocolate intrusions, hides alcohol amazingly. Always weird how when you talk about the best barrel aged barleywines, this one never gets brought up. It is very simplistic in its net impression, there is nothing exotic, they took basically a hybrid English and American barleywine, barreled it in something not fancy, but works so well. Nothing dominates, but its so impressive.

Pours a clear brown with a foamy beige head that settles to an oily film on top of the beer. No lacing on this one. Smell is of malt, brown sugar, caramel, wood, vanilla, and bourbon. Taste is much the same and there is a slight amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer that is quite tasty and lives up to it’s name.
