This beer is sold at Colonial Williamsburg with an old print-style label. There is a date on the bottle: "01/16/2023"
Appearance: The body is a gold color and it is nearly opaque, allowing only very fuzzy shadows to be visible through the glass. The head is somewhat short but bordering on medium-sized, and it is both fluffy and white. It has alright head retention but there is no head retention. The color of the beer is nice.
Aroma: It smells a bit like cloves. There is a slightly floral note to the aroma as well. The aroma as a whole is pretty light but the clove scent is clear.
Taste: Up front it has a bit of an orange peel flavor with a touch of marmalade. The middle is a bit of clove and a bit of a light berry flavor. There is a slight grassy flavor and a very light hint of spring onion in the aftertaste. There is a light bit of honeydew melon in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: It is light and effervescent but smooth and easy to drink. There is a light prickle on the palate.
Overall: It is an interesting enough beer to drink to be enjoyable beyond a simple curiosity. At first the beer seems very similar to a Witbier but then it takes on a much more herbal and fresh character. I probably wouldn't drink this beer often but it really embodies a Gruit. I would recommend trying it.

12 ounce bottle poured into a narrow mug.
Bottled 5/26/22
Pouring clear before I gave the bottle a swirl to pick up any sediment, light amber in color with a thin white effervescent head that disappears inside of thirty seconds. Crisp and light. Nose and taste are comprised spice and malt, coriander, ginger, barley and wheat, cracker-like, no bitterness and balanced between sweet and dry. Easy to drink and the spice isn’t overwhelming. Seems to fit the bill for a historic non-hopped ale though I do get hints of citrus. No complaints.

Pours a wheat color with little white head. Very mild sweet malt, spiced, clover, fruit, and citrus hops. Fits the style of a spiced ale. Feels smooth with light carbonation. Overall easy to drink with unique flavor.

Taste: Made with multi grain of oats, barley, wheat, peppers, with coriander and such, herbal cider notes. Same with the nose. Amber hue, mostly clear, tan head, small lace. Medium to light body.

Pours a cloudy copper color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and slight lacing. Smells of sweet malt, pale malt, slight ginger, fruit, and citrus hops. Fits the style of an Herbed / Spiced Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with a low carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, pale malt, slight ginger, hint of watermelon, spice, and citrus hops. Overall, great blend and feel, quite easy to drink and yet full bodied, and good complexity.
