12 oz bottle served in a big snifter. Don't remember where I got the bottle. Bottled on 05 24 2018.
Pours black with a small head and medium carbonation. Smell is nutty, roasty, coffee.
Taste is mild sweetness, slight hint of cherry, mostly coffee altogether, and some roastiness.
Mouthfeel is light and smooth. Overall, not bad.

From the label, just above the bar code: "BOTTLED ON 08 03 2018"
Appearance: It has a black body with a short khaki head. The head is a bit creamy and fizzy, and it doesn't last long. No real retention or lacing.
Aroma: It has a very nice aroma of coffee, a touch of carbon, a bit of toffee, and cocoa powder.
Taste: The flavors closely follow the aroma. It has a nice gentle coffee and roasted nut flavor that carries through. It has a touch of carbon flavor but it is always in the background and only really stands out in the aftertaste. After a while of drinking the beer, it starts to pick up a bit of spice character, like cinnamon.
Mouthfeel: It has a medium mouthfeel with a thin finish. Carbonation is low. Bitterness is medium-low and is all roasted grain character. It has a good drinkabiltiy.
Overall: You get a lot of aroma and flavor in this simple Porter, and that is really what stands out the most with this beer. It has a lot of character to enjoy. I would recommend it and I would drink it again.

From the bottle, it pours a clear dark brown, almost black, with virtually no head, although that may be due to the cold temerature. Roast dark malts in the nose. The same for the mouth. Pleasant!

Picked this up on the way home from the West Coast not too long ago when I was coming home through Virginia. I don't drink this style a whole lot but if I was to pick an example to start off with, this would have been a decent one. Easygoing, solid, and unassuming, this had all the characteristics of a good American Porter without a lot of booze or roasted notes to it; which works out great during a long session of imbibing!
The pour to this was what one would expect for a beer of this type - dark brown with a mocha head that subsided pretty quickly. Very little lacing was left on the side of my pint glass as this was just a bit thinner than I would have liked. Lots of molasses, chocolate, and a mild cofffe undertone in the muted nose with plenty of those in the taste. Cream, mild roasted malt, and coffee creamer came in to give this a moderately full and well-rounded feel without being too heavy, burnt, or overly chewy.
There wasn't any hint of alcohol either as this came across more as a dessert drink than anything else. Bottled on 2/12, this offering from AleWerks was a dark beer that would be easy for anyone to enjoy and possibly, good enough to win him/her onto the style. The lingering, cloying sweetness that coated my palate had me wishing for another one to end the night with...

My go to beverage. Well balanced and tasty at room temperature. Highly recommended for those that enjoy a balanced porter.

On tap at brewery:
Pours a dark brown with a light tan almost creamy head. A temporary sheet firms on a tip, but only a few spots of lingering lacing.
Nose is a burnt toast roasted malt, straightforward enough. Not much other nuance to me, perhaps a slightly woody hop note... maybe.
A medium light feel almost goes weak, but the end is nicely dark roasted malt after a tease up front and an unexpected lull in flavor. Up front there's a little weak coffee, then that lull, then a bolder roasted coffee note to end the beer.
Solid, straightforward, tasty Porter with a coffee lean in the roasted malts.
