L:. Pours a dark brown with hi ts of mahogany red with a small rocky head and no lacing on the glass.
S:. Sweet and tart blackberry are forefront, followed by a pleasant smoked meat underneath, and some roasted malt. Smells very pleasant and I can't wait to give it a try.
T:. Tart blackberry followed by a nicely smoked meat and some roasted malt, a very enjoyable beer.
F:. Low carbonation, medium body.
O:. Very nice smoked porter.

Poured from a 12oz can into the spiegelau stout glass.
The look is a bit disappointing head is making this beer remind me of root beer. Big head on the pour but the bubbles were huge and fading fast into nothing not even a ring around the edge of the glass. Quite dark but still let's a minuscule amount of light through unlike guinness. With the light it's a murky reddish brown. Honestly looks like a slightly hazy rootbeer.
The smell on this one is intense. Getting notes of raisins and molasses. Threw me off because it kinda smells like the pouch chewing tobacco my dad used to use. But with an extra funk I camt quite pit my finger on. It is quite fruity however. Maybe the last guy was onto something vaguely with all his talk about smoked meats.
Taste follows the flavor but is mellowed down a bit. Still has that molasses raisin going on with a decent amount of malt but this quite varied palate of flavors pushes it to the background quite a bit. It does taste like a beer just with a lot going on. Funky, dried fruits, and on the sweeter end. Not distinctly "smoky" but very different and dark. Not driven by malt.
Feel is quite middle of the road. The bubbles do come back a bit as you drink adding to mouth feel, but the head retention makes the carbonation feel more aggressive than it really is, and makes the beer less creamy. This leads to a semi watery very average mouthfeel. A little disappointing for what should've been a big porter, but not bad. Just average.
Overall it's something to try. A little too funky to be an everyday drinker, and a little rough around the edges. Very interesting as a concept but definitely not for everyone. I think my girlfriend liked it more than me.
