Powerhouses Saison bears more resemblance to a hard ginger ale than to the traditional Belgian farm ale. The yellow-gold color and refined clarity dont suggest the style, and neither the spry fruitiness nor the citric earthiness of traditional saison yeast varieties makes much presence here. Instead, the apparent adjunct rules the day. This is fine with me, as a good ginger ale is hard to come by. Ginger makes a defining statement in both the aroma and taste with little intrusion from contributing malts and virtually none from hops. A misrepresented beer in my opinion, but a drinkable one nonetheless.
