Thanks to the brewer's daughter, Jessie, for bringing me back the growler. From the growler, poured into wine glasses and split two ways. Reviewed from my first pour.

A- Despite no hiss from the mouth of the growler, a decent amount of head formed, quickly dissipating into a collar of dense white bubbles. Very impressive clarity; polished to the point that it looks filtered. Light amber in color, but the great clarity makes the beer appear more of a glowing orange. The color reminds me of ginger. Only a small amount of visible carbonation. Very attractive beer, with the only negative being the lack of head retention, which could be from the growler.

S- Captures the essence of ginger without becoming overwhelming, like some other ginger beers. The ginger is clean and pungent. Lemon blends in nicely with the ginger and doesn't provide anything more than a "hint", as the brewery's website describes it. An almost brown sugar-like sweetness lies beneath and provides a nice balance. Not surprisingly, no direct malt influence or any hop character. The focus of this aroma is squarely on the ginger and it serves the beer well.

T- Initially, a biscuity malt sweetness (vienna-like, although I doubt that malt was used in this style) that only lasts for a fraction of a fraction of a second until the ginger takes over. The ginger dominates until a spiciness and light acidity (from the lemon?) take over. No alcohol until a tiny ethanol kick lingers beyond the other flavors. Intensely refreshing and the alcohol is very well hidden, at the beginning anyway. I really liked the escalator up to the alcohol ending, but might want a bit more malt depth behind the ginger.

M- If there is a shortcoming to this beer, this it it. Very thin with a spritzy carbonation that probably lost some bubbles during the growler's trip over the state line. I'd like to give the mouthfeel another shot straight from the tap; more carbonation would increase the intensity and add to its already refreshing quality. Also, I think with more body the ginger and lemon flavor would stick to the palate a bit more.

D- Exceptional drinkability, in spite of being so ginger forward and 7.7% ABV. This is a beer that would go especially well with the sunshine, mowing the lawn, spicy food, or sushi. My girlfriend is the ginger-beer connoisseur of the two of us, and she gave it two thumbs up. I really enjoyed this beer a lot and can't wait to try other offerings in the future.
