Funny. I plan a trip to England to have Pales that I cannot get States-side and, then, I go into a grocery store (Waitrose in this case) and buy a dozen Pales and, it seems, at least half are patterned as APAs. Oh, well... As John Lennon is reputed to say: "Life is something that happens while you are busy making plans."

Glad to try Wayfarer. But at 42 IBU, I certainly didn't need to leave home.
Wayfarer Looks appetizing, nice foam. It also Smells mostly of malt with fruity hops complementing the malt. For Tastes, I get mostly a Mosaic attack and it never really lets the malt back in to play. Too bad as this has a soft mouth... but not even bubbles will remove the resin now coating my buds.

I went on Allendale's website and am glad to give them Big OA Hugs. Started in 2006 in a former mining area in England's far north before getting to Scotland, starting a brewery is not easy; but it is necessary if the area is to contribute to the next era. While still a small husband-wife team, they brought in the brewmaster (and others, I presume) and everything seems to be going well enough that I could find a copy distributed in London. Thanks, friends.

L- 'A deeper shade of gold'. Veeery slight haze. The can has rested undisturbed in the fridge for 2-3 days, despite which on pulling the ring, the top of the can instantly covered in foam. Others might want to be prepared for that just in case. Pours with 2cm white head that's holding very well so far.
S- Distinctly fruity, stone-fruit, perhaps peach is how best to describe it.
T- It's hoppy, but it reaches a peak showly and seems to stay there even after swallowing. The fruit element now comes over as more citrus.
F- Dry for sure, but it's not a hop-bomb/OTT. I just read the can and was surprised to see the 4.4%; I'd have guessed something nearer say 5.2%. It's refreshing too.
O- Interesting one. It shows prominent hop-profiles can be crafted whilst keeping within a broader balance. I enjoyed this and would buy it again.
Bought from a west London supermarket, TESCO IIRC. BBE: Aug-2019

330ml can.
L: Pours a clear, dark gold with a few streams of micro-bubbles rising to an open, lumpy, three-finger, white head m. The excellent head is long-lasting and leaves arcs of lacing.
S: Peaches, citrus
T: Astringent, piney, west coast hops. Malt comes through after the hop hit.
F: Light body, low carbonation, very dry finish.
O: Looks great, smells tropical, taste is dry & bitter, finish is dry but also a little thin. More like a good 4.4% session AIPA.

A 330ml can with a BB of Sept 2018. Acquired a while back from Morrisons. Described on the label as a fruity pale ale hopped with Mosaic.

A: Poured into a tulip. Can-conditioned. A bright, hazy amber colour with some suspended sediment and low carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a minute or two before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Some lacing.

S: Aroma of fruity hops with hints of citrus zest, peel, tropical fruit, white grape, faint grass, caramel malt and ale yeast. Balanced and delicious - rather good.

T: Tastes of fruity aromatic hops with notes of grapefruit, citrus, peel, tropical fruit, mild white grape, grass/hay, caramel malt and ale yeast. Slightly sweet, followed by a modest hoppy bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth and lightly tingly, with soft carbonation and decent body. Could be a tad livelier. Mildly astringent. Aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops, citrus, tropical fruit, caramel malt and ale yeast.

O: Pretty good - a solidly crafted pale ale. Looks OK; shame about the carbonation. Aroma and flavour are a satisfying mix of fruity hops, caramel malt and ale yeast. Body is alright but lacks texture. Goes down easily enough; worth sampling.
