Brewers Notes:
A beautiful red coloured, full bodied beer taking its name from the famous wolf of Allendale. With bitterness coming from Challenger hops and a fruity blackcurrant aroma coming from Williamette hops. At 5.5% abv. this really is beer with bite!

Copenhagen 16/2 2016. 50 cl bottle from Meny. A wolf peeking at me from quite graphic and detailed label.

Pours clear dark reddish brown with a small white head. Settles as a thin flimsy layer of foam. Moderate lacing.

Aroma is quite sweet. Sugary caramel, candy (milk chocolate) and some notes of sour orange. Must be a Wolf with a sweet tooth.

Soft carbonation and watery palate. Slightly thick and almost flat texture.

Flavor is quite sugary sweet. Caramel and cheap milk chocolate. Almost no bitterness.

This poor Wolf must be quite toothless if it drinks this overwhelmingly sweet brew on a daily basis.

500 ml bottle, from The Cheese & Wine Shop, Darlington. Copper colour, large to moderate off-white head. Strong and pleasant aroma of malts, caramel, raisins, dark dried fruits, blackcurrants, a hint of tobacco. Fruity flavour, notes of raisins and blackcurrants, also notes of caramel malts, but the beer is not too sweet. Moderate but sufficient hops in the finish. Very drinkable.

Pours ruby red into a glass from a bottle. Head disappates quickly.

Aroma is red berries, some light malts and some hop character. Flavour is more of the same; dried strawberries, raspberries, toffee notes, red apple, roasted malt, and some sweet hops.

Feel is medium bodied, low carbonation and wet finish.

Overall, nice easy drinking red ale.
