Short Shifter is a hoppy lager that gets its inspiration from the crisp, clean flavor of an all malt Continental pilsner, and the hop forward drinkability of a classic American pale ale.

always nice to get to drink new beer from these guys. i feel like they new ones have been few and far between of late, at least those making it out to colorado, so this was a treat, even if it is a relatively basic lager. leave it to bear republic to make theirs on the hoppy side, cool notes of mango and mandarin orange come through in the aroma and finish of this pale yellow brew. its got great freshness to it, still a grassy noble aspect, a fine crispness from the lagering, and although its a little light in body and in carbonation, i found it to be quite easy and refreshing overall. the hops have flavor without bitterness, which helps with that, and the malt base is super clean to me, not a whole lot going on with it, but there doesnt need to be in a beer like this. on top of that, the yeast doesnt contribute a whole lot of flavor, so the delicate but interesting hop profile stands out really well. drinkable and pleasantly different, a fine companion i would think for spicy or fried foods...
