An extremely crushable, new school American IPA bursting with ripe and lush tropical-fruit flavors. A dry malt finish and pleasant bitterness provide a good foundation for the fruit explosion from Cashmere, Jester, and Huell Melon hops.

For an American IPA, this is quite a fruity beer.
In my defense, I had four others before drinking this one so I do not have a very solid memory on the taste and appearance. But this is a great social beer since it's so easy to drink with some very fruity, tropical flavors.
But the this beer is a little light bodied, and the flavor is kind simple to analyze. It is a little light on the nose as well.

Had been awhile since I’d reviewed a Bear Republic beer. In fact, looking back it had been since July 7, 2017 since I actually reviewed one, giving Hop Shovel a 3.95. Online description called it, “An extremely crushable, new school American IPA bursting with ripe and lush tropical-fruit flavors. A dry malt finish and pleasant bitterness provide a good foundation for the fruit explosion from Cashmere, Jester, and Huell Melon hops.” Not a fan of Huell Melon, vaguely remembered Cashmere and never heard of Jester.
Poured a pale-to-gold hazy color with one finger of off-white frothy head. Could see some bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent spiderweb lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled a pleasant mix of citrus and tropical notes. Got lime, lemon, dish soap, grapefruit, sugary apricot, floral, melon, tangerine and unsweetened iced tea. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste was not good as the nose. Got lime, lemon, dish soap, grapefruit, sugary apricot, tangerine rind, melon, floral, musty basement and unsweetened iced tea. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Dry, slightly spicy finish. (Feel - 3.50)
This was actually better than I thought it would be. Would have again for sure. Very good. (Overall - 3.75)
