Poured into mug from a can BBD JAN3024. Clear, copper colored with an off-white head, good lacing. Intense scent of artificial fruit punch. Taste initially of fruit punch, giving way to lingering hop bitterness. Light, watery mouthfeel. Too bad I have 5 more to drink.

This is a 12oz. can poured into my very nice looking Atwater can glass. This is a clear copper colored ale with an inch of pure white fluff that left in a hurry. This ale is a very nice color with medium carbonation.
The aroma is mostly sweet oranges with hint of tropical fruit. The aroma reminds me of the smell used to mask childrens aspirin.
The flavor is a mix of orange and passion fruit, with the orange slightly dominating the flavor, slightly sweet up front and a citrus dry hop finish.
This is a smooth drinking IPA, not overly bitter, very refreshing after a long day at work.

Taste: Tropical fruit of Passion fruit, oranges, guava, some artificial notes, slight dry hopped finish. Bold orange peel citrus nose. Amber hue, clear, big foamy soapy head, not much lace. Medium body. Summer beer. 44 IBUs

Two twelve ounce cans now sit empty. Their contents sit in a clear glass liter mug. Now, a color may be seen. It's copper-amber with an ever so slightly hued white head. The head is modest, but enduring. Surprisingly, there's not a big bouquet from this one. Nor is there a big beer flavor. This drinks almost like a beer sangria. Passionfruit, guava and blood orange are on the label; however, not expecting them as main ingredients should be a forgivable offense. The good, it drinks rather smoothly. The bad, this may be more like a very richly bodied flavored seltzer than a real beer. Is this an ale or a lager? Probably with its deceptive ABV, it is an ale. Because the fruitiness is so prominent, it probably doesn't matter.

The past couple of days have seen me CANcentrating on CANned beers from MichiCAN and I want to CANtinue this CANQuest (tm) trend with one from Detroit's Atwater Brewery.

From the CAN: "POG-O-Licious IPA"; "Pairs with: The Backyard Luau and Grass Skirts."; "Let the fruitful taste of the islands refresh you down to your flip flops. This Passion fruit, Orange, and Guava IPA will have you saying Aloha."; "Born in Detroit. Raised Everywhere."; "We make kind of beer that we love. Unapologetic craft lagers and ales brewed with Detroit pride for people who enjoy great tasting beer. We're not seeking the approval of anyone else. We're just a group of hard working, beer loving folks that get to bottle our enthusiasm every day and share it with the world."

I CANticipated raising a toast to at least their enthusiasm as I Crack!ed open the vent. I hate to say it, but this is one of the most hit or miss breweries that I have enCANtered. I CANtinued with a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. I was met with just over a finger of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with decent retention. Color was a lightly-hazy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose was more Guava than Orange and/or Passionfruit, although both were also quite perceptible. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was very fruity, quite juicy and blended the three fruits in such a way that none was overwhelming. It was an interesting take on an IPA, but since it involved fruit, it no longer fit the criteria for the style. Thinking of it in terms of its fruit adjuncts definitely made a difference in my scores. Finish was semi-dry, approaching semi-sweet. A nice interlude. YMMV.

Passion fruit. Orange. Guava. Enough said. This is a juicy, fruity, delicious and hoppy IPA. It's so juicy and tangy you could drink it with breakfast. Smells like orange juice and tastes even better. Definitely recommend. Got in cans at my local beer store this summer, Mid Michigan.
