Appearance: Dark brown, near black body with some slight garnet-hued edges and a smallish, off-white head.
Smell: Aroma smelling of chocolate bars and caramel-covered wheat with only a faint note of banana.
Taste: Roasty wheat flavor with tastes of chocolate and weak coffee. Bits of dark caramel sweetness on-hand. As it warms a bit, a more apparent wheat tanginess develops. Very light banana fruitiness. A drying nuttiness emerges even as the chocolate persists. Vague spicy hop character, though almost no bitterness. Finishes dry with an earthy taste of wheat and chocolate.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Quite nice! More out-and-out chocolate flavor than I find in most dunkelweizens. It makes for a nice surprise, like finding a piece of chocolate on a hotel pillow.
That was a piece of chocolate on the hotel pillow, right?
