Roasted specialty malts combine to create a rich and creamy ale with chocolate mocha characters and a smooth roasted finish.

$11.50 AUD per 570ml pint on-draught @ the brewery/hotel.
Classic English porter, rife with chocolate malt, creaminess, caramel, and dark malt sweetness. Hints of cacao and roast. Hint of cherry/stonefruit. Balanced and likable with no off-flavours, though some may view it as too "no frills" to warrant comparison to the big dogs in the style.
It's a biteen back to basics for the style, admittedly, but there's a certain classic feel to it, like its clinging dearly to style fundaments.
Sort of exactly what you expect a porter from a historic brewery like Lord Nelson to taste like, which is to say it ticks the boxes it needs to without any flair or flourish, and that's not a bad thing but it may not compare favorably to the Young's Porters, St. Peters, and other similarly regarded as "classic" English expressions of the style for those experienced with English porters.
I'd like to see them up the roasted barley in the malt bill substantially...this really needs more roast.

Is this the greatest name for a beer ever? Maybe not, but I like it. L. Looks like you want a porter - black/very dark brown with a tan, frothy head that has some resilience before fading to a solid cap. S. Lots of coffee, chocolate and something else sweet? Maybe just a malt hint, but adds another dimension. T. Follows the smell, a touch sweet for mine but lots of robust flavour. A bit of malt/caramel hint on the lingering finish. F. Lighter than maybe expected, but not over carbonated. Very smooth. O. Very enjoyable, hard to believe it has taken me so long to finally drink this but will do so again.

Nelson Blood porter is ok. If you like coffee based porters then this one is for you. The beer poured an opaque black with white head that left a very nice lace. The scent was malty with peat notes. The taste leaned heavily on coffee. The Mouthfeel was medium in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it's ok and certainly worth a try.

Enjoyed this on a Sunny afternoon in Sydney. Sitting outside with a friend on Melbourne Cup day. The pub room was packed and getting service was a challenge at best. Nelson's Blood poured out an inky black with roast coffee and espresso notes in the nose. A short-lived tan head left some lacing as the beer was consumed. The conversation flowed and this smooth easy drinker kept pace. Notes of coffee and some hints of malt in the palate. Balanced but a little thin, overall this was a very drinkable porter and certainly worth trying again. I hope to return to the Brewery later this week to review their other beers and the establishment itself.

Wow, my taste buds have been broadsided by cannonade.
Appearence- A nearly black shade of brown that only allows any light to pass through with a crimson tinge. The top was crowned with an inch of creamy head that surprisingly didn't lace well.
Smell- Chocolate, Coffee, Roasted grains, limited herbal hops
Taste - Similar to an intense version of the smell. I found it very intense and pleasurable. It certainly lives up to the term "robust porter"
Mouthfeel - Full bodied. Light Carbonation to lighten up the warship sailing over your tongue.
Drinkability- Very nice and intense for a session beer.

A - Dark brown with ruby red highlights, a centimetre of creamy beige head sits nicely.
S - Roasted coffee, a bit of chocolate.
T - Very much like the smell.
M - Pretty full bodied, medium to low carbonation.
D - A nice tasty porter. A few pints on a cold winters day wouldn't be a bad call.

Deep, rich dark red-black. Excellent creamy head. Looks smooth.
The nose is toasty and rich. Good aromas of roasted grains and chocolate. Nice.
Smooth tasty roasted flavour on the front palate. Dries out to a long, rich finish. Quite dark and complex. Despite this, is silky smooth on the mouthfeel, and very easy to drink. Very pleasant.
I enjoyed this one a great deal.

I loved this brew. It was malty and had fantastic balance. My mates loved it as well!
Good head retention and great choc malt and hop flavours.
It was the perfect colour for a porter and was just a great looking beer. I could drink this all day. Fantastic drop!

Way too thin and watery for a porter, really weak and flavourless. I don't know if they water their brews down at the Lord nelson, but it sure tastes like they do, porters, should be a bit roasty and in no way watery, this was a very big dissapointment.
