Clear true gold under a moderate, long lived head. Lace curtains as you go. Quite yeasty toward the bottom of the bottle. Good looking beer.

Gently sweet malt up front, big muscular grapefruit hops on the back end. Strong lingering bitterness. Grapefruit nose.

Overall a pretty nice drinking beer.

600 mL bottle included in the Best of Beau's 2014 mixer; bottled Oct. 27 2014 and served slightly chilled.

Pours a foggy golden-amber colour, chock full of little bits of stuff that slowly hover through the liquid. A generous two fingers of puffy, white head is generated on top, slowly wilting over the next five minutes or so into a bubbly cap and collar, with a curtain of lace left behind in a ring around the perimeter. Enticing aroma, typical of the style; lots of citrusy grapefruit, orange zest and pine sap, with minor hints of pineapple and peach. Grainy malts and some brown sugar are also detectable; works for me.

This is a fairly well-made IPA, but not particularly memorable. Grainy, bready malts and caramel sweetness provide a modest backbone, but as expected it is the hop flavours that dominate here. Lots of pine sap, with citrusy grapefruit rind, lemon and tangerine flavour, as well. The bitterness intensifies, becoming increasing pithy and floral as you near the finish, eventually leaving a persistent, grapefruit-y astringency behind on the palate in the aftertaste. Medium in body, with peppy carbonation that gives this brew a somewhat crisp, lively feel in the mouth - it seems pleasantly light when compared to many IPAs of this strength; definitely one of the strongest facets of this beer as it maintains good drinkability in the face of its own heavy bitterness and sturdy abv.

Final Grade: 4.02, a respectable A-. Mission Accomplished makes for a solid start to this mixed pack, as it is probably the best IPA from this brewery that I've had the opportunity to try so far. The marketing blurb made a point of mentioning a 'tropical fruit' flavour, but other than the citrus I am not getting a whole lot of that - possibly related to the fact that this is already two months old. I'm getting a lot more Simcoe and Centennial out of this one than Citra and Rakau, but in the end this is still a perfectly serviceable IPA that I'd drink again - although probably not very often, at the typical Wild Oats price.

Appearance: It has a nice hazy golden/orange color to it with a fair amount of sediment. It has a nice thick off-white head that dies down moderately slow and leaves some nice lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of citrus, alot of grapefruit and lemon, pine resins, some floral notes and sweet bready malts.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has some grapefruit, lemon, floral hops, followed by a nice piney bitterness and some sweet bready/buiscuity malts on the back.

Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied by good flavors and aromas. I definitely enjoyed this beer more than I thought I would. The lingering bitterness is just a tad overwhelming but apart from that it's pretty solid.

I think I must have gotten a bad bottle of this or something. IPA's are my favorite style and I was really excited for this offering from Beau's. Beer poured beautifully and had a magnificent fluffy white head but the aroma that came wafting from the glass reeked of sweaty old band-aids. Upon further inspection my entire glass was filled with very large particles/chunks which were floating and dancing around throughout the entire beer. I have seen yeast sediments and hop particles in beer before but this was something entirely different. Looked like globs of mucus in varying sizes floating around everywhere.......Almost seemed like there was more of this than there was actual beer in the glass...

Beer was completely undrinkable.....I could kind of detect the citrus notes of the beer but they were completely masked by the domineering off-flavors which I can't even begin to describe.....two sips was all I could get into my mouth of this beer and I nearly gagged it back up.
