Pours a hazy yellow/gold colour with a thick and frothy head. The smell is very sweet, milky with hints of strawberry. The taste is too sweet for my liking, not unpleasant just sweet. Reminds me of bubble tea. Just not my thing

It pours fairly clear gold with a medium-sized head that settles at a quarter inch. Okay retention, some lacing. The aroma is mainly vanilla and lactose with some tea, smells a little artificial. The flavor is better, but just as artificial. Black tea, pale malt, some nutri.sweet-like lactose sweetness and a lingering vanilla character. It is pretty creamy feeling with moderate carbonation. This is probably the high point of the whole beer to me and the closest it gets to the real thing, very soft and fluffy.

As a general rule I am not a big fan of beers that try to be other things (cocktails, desserts, etc.) but I feel like I can appreciate when they at least get close and this one did indeed that. However, I feel like the lactose and vanilla are heavy handed to the point of throwing the rest out of whack. Not bad, not great. Middlin'. The main issue is definitely the artificialness of the sweetness that permeates it, but that seems to be David's Tea's MO. It's like a potable Bed Bath and Beyond or Lush or any number of other stores that give you headaches. Really over the top flavors and aromas for something as subtle as tea. Anyway, this was kind of interesting but not my bag (wocka wocka).

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Sept 10 2019 and served slightly chilled. I don't drink nearly as much tea as I used to, but I do have a tin of this exact DAVIDsTEA blend (Cream of Earl Grey) on the shelf nearby. I mention this only so that readers are aware of my bias from the outset.

Pours clear golden-yellow, capped off by one finger of foamy white head that evaporates within the next couple of minutes. A messy band of seafoam spattered lace is flung about in the process, with a frothy collar and filmy cap remaining in place - looks fine, but the aroma is a fair bit more interesting. Black tea leaves, vanilla, sweet cream and floral notes come through, alongside hints of grainy sweetness, orange, marshmallow and banana.

Hints of bergamot oil and black tea are apparent at the forefront, preceding the sweeter flavours of lactose, grainy pale malts and oatmeal that follow; notes of vanilla, orange, orchard fruit and chocolate develop by mid-sip. More black tea and vanilla into the finish, with an herbal, earthy note and subtle lactose sweetness persisting into the aftertaste. Medium in body, with moderate carbonation levels that prickle the palate continuously; feels frothy and satisfying in the mouth, but I don't think it's the sort of beer I'd want to drink one after another.

Final Grade: 3.89, a B+. Beau's London Fog was neither too sweet nor too bitter - fans of the DAVIDsTEA blend will certainly enjoy this faithfully beer-ified equivalent. I've actually had a few cans of this over the past couple of weeks, and in each case I polished them off rather quickly, which I'd say qualifies as positive feedback. Worth trying if you can find it - a unique collaboration, and a beer I'll be returning to in the future.

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for $3+ CDN. Batch 8698 and Canned 09/10/2019.

Appearance - Pours a mostly clear deep blonde color with two plus fingers of tight white head. Good staying power and plenty of visible carbonation.

Smell - Tea like for sure with some herbal leafy notes and subtle bits of vanilla and even chocolate? Black tea is the most obvious of aromas overall though.

Taste - Leafy with lots of tea like qualities, slightly herbal and quite akin to actually drinking cold tea. Lots of subtle underflavors - hard for me to describe as my vocabulary for tea is not as good as it is for beer. Traces of tea leaves, black tea, and again a hint of cocoa powder at the close. Creamy sweet flavors show up more the farther you get into the beer - it's kind of like vanilla overall.

Mouthfeel - Medium-light bodied, fairly moderate carbonation, given the fairly good intensity of the flavor, it doesn't really stick to the mouth that well.

Overall - For a flavored blonde ale this is really quite good, maybe not exactly my cup of tea (figuratively and literally) but this London Fog is still a nice reprise from even more dreary fall weather of late.
