473 ml can served cool into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for around $3.25 CDN. Canned 11/20/19. Batch 8901.
Appearance - Initially explosive carbonation pouring a half can yielded many fingers of head. After settling down around a finger and a half of white head with good lacing, underneath is a nice mildly hazy coppery brew.
Smell - Grainy with some sharp earthy and mildly citrusy hops and some good old fashion pine resin mixed in.
Taste - Matches the nose, plenty of grainy flavors (with a subtle bit of nuttiness), some sharp garpefruit and maybe lemon with earthy undertones. A bit too bitter for the sake of being bitter for my tastes.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, good spritzy carbonation and a very dry finish.
Overall - A well hopped pale ale certainly, initially, the excessive bitterness and very dry finish make me unlikely to return to Countdown. However after getting through more of the brew, this has warmed and would consider it one of the better pale ales out there.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Nov 20 2019 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a bit hazy, with a medium golden-hued body that is topped with nearly two fingers of soapy, foamy white head. It recedes slowly but surely over the next five minutes or so, leaving behind a wide collar of creamy froth, as well as a modest speckling of lace. I'm getting a lot of earthiness and piney, herbaceous hops on the nose, with a side of bready, lightly toasted, caramelized malts. Kind of old school; I'm not a huge fan of this particular hop profile, but that's personal preference - Cascade doesn't usually do it for me.
Not bad - it's a well constructed APA, with robust showings from both the malt and hop bills. It tastes of toasted grains and bready malts, with touches of caramelized sugars also coming through. The Simcoe hops assert themselves towards the back end, offering up plenty of earthy, resiny hop bitterness, with hints of pine, passion fruit and grapefruit, as well as a lingering earthiness into the aftertaste. Medium in body, with moderate carbonation that gently prickles the surface of the palate; it actually feels quite smooth in the mouth, which is likely related to the oats. Quite drinkable.
Final Grade: 3.75, a B+. Countdown may not be the best hopped pale ale that Beau's has ever released, but it's nowhere near the worst, either. I can't knock this beer too harshly, because it's not flawed in the technical sense, nor is it a poor example of an APA - it's a fine one which just happens to have hop characteristics that don't line up well with my own preferences. Maybe you'll love it, so give it a try and decide for yourself, but I don't see myself returning to this all that often.

Pours clearish gold with a short-lived beige head of a couple inches. Settles to a complete film; confetti lacing. Aroma of fresh citrus zest, light pine and clean malt. The flavor is dry, crispy bitterness up front with pine sap bitterness that hangs out a little in the finish. Dry and bubbly with a nigh-round feel and a crisp hoppy finish. This is a textbook APA. Light touch with the malt and classic C-hops grapefruit/sap character. Drinkable, substantial but quenching, bitter, bright, avery nice beer.
