Walnut black with a large head. Settles to a full creamy looking cap, Generous lacing. Some metal on the nose and to taste. Moderately bitter, coffee and chocolate notes. Some ash and tar. Mild vanilla notes. Thin-bodied. Even handed stuff, not excessively sweet or too bitter at the other extreme, unlike so many others. At the end of it all, kind of ordinary. Don't like the metal.

473 mL can from TBS; dated Nov 11 2021 and served barely chilled. Haven't seen a lot of new Beau's stuff on retail shelves in recent memory, but then again, it has been a rough couple of years for all of us.
Pours a dark brownish-black colour; functionally opaque, save for some weathered bronze highlights when held to a light. Situated atop is nearly an inch of foamy, tan-coloured head that fades within two or three minutes' time, leaving behind a thin band of lace, as well as a tight, creamy collar. Roasty and a little sweet on the nose - the vanilla is apparent, but not overbearing, with notes of roasted malts, coffee grounds and baker's chocolate. Some metallicity, but it took a few sniffs to discern.
This is a very nice porter: well balanced, with a nice roastiness and subtle vanilla flavours. Rich dark chocolate at the forefront, with hints of coffee grounds and vanilla by mid-sip. Roasted malts and cocoa dominate the back end, with hints of vanilla continuing to crop up into the bittersweet aftertaste. Medium-light weight, with low carbonation and a soft, relatively flat mouthfeel - feels smooth on the tongue, but something seems missing... maybe a little more spritz, or a little more body. Easy to drink quickly, and no trouble to do so.
Final Grade: 3.91, a B+. Porter Porter combines two of my most favourite things - beer, and onomatopoeic redundancy. Reminiscent of Beau's old Burnt Rock vanilla porter - PP seems a little stronger/roastier, but they're superficially similar, and both of them keep the vanilla in check. Which is great for me, because I've always felt vanilla works best as a minor or background presence vs. a major component of the beer. Like most Beau's beers, it's good, but I wouldn't say it's anything especially exciting - though it's still well worth a spin if you're in the mood for a porter. Something I'll return to soon enough.

A beautiful looking black pour with a huge fluffy and creamy head. A bit metallic on the smell and on the taste. Tiny hints of vanilla and toasted malts on the flavour. A bit thin on the mouthfeel

473 ml can served cold into a tulip. Review from notes. Cost was about $3.65 CDN.
Appearance - Dark brown brew with a finger plus of frothy light tan head. Great staying power and some stray lacing cling to the edges of the glass.
Smell - Roasted malt with a nice balance of vanilla, some subtle chocolate notes. Good depth of aroma and surprisingly (or unsurprisingly) intense.
Taste - Matches the aroma. Medium bitter with some dark chocolate maybe a flash of coffee, but mostly roasted malt. A delicate but sure handed amount of vanilla is wonderfully combined. Not complicated but the balance in which this was achieved is excellent.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, silky with moderate carbonation. Goes down really easy and medium-full in body.
Overall - An easy brew to drink and enjoy with an excellent addition of vanilla that is ever present but never overwhelms. One of the more balanced porters I've had in this respect for a very long time. Well worth the purchase.
