473 mL can from Wal-Mart; dated Mar 6 2024 and served barely chilled.
Pours a foggy pale golden colour with sandy flecks of sediment drifting throughout its body; gathered atop is nearly two inches of puffy, foamy, sparkling white head that dissipates within three or four minutes' time. A modest amount of lace is scattered about in its wake, with a wide, soapy collar lingering on the surface. The nose is highly subdued, offering up low key hints of orange, passion fruit and pineapple, as well as some bready, wheaty malts.
It's not bad, but it drinks more like a session IPA than a full-strength one - which I suppose is not that surprising, given that this weighs in at a svelte 5% abv. Mildly fruity flavours of orange slices and passion fruit, with suggestions of mango and pineapple, leading into a tropical aftertaste that fades after a moment. Light in body, with moderate carbonation that froths up a little in the mouth, contributing to this brew's soft, pillowy mouthfeel. Easy to gulp back.
Final Grade: 3.59, a B grade. Beau's Wonder Crush is really nothing to write home about, but I will give it another shot at some point, assuming I'm able to procure a fresher can. It's a decent session IPA - not bad, but not great either - I'd have no trouble tossing this back, but there are plenty of other IPAs in this price range that I'd select before this one. I'd say it's worth a try, but with so many pale ales to choose from, I can't say you'd be missing out on much if you simply passed it by.

On tap at the Mule. Served cold into a pint glass.
Appearance - Very hazy yellowy gold brew with a finger and a half of rocky white head on top. Good staying power and curtains of lacing cling to the edges of the glass.
Smell - Tropical with passionfruit leading the way. Other citrus and noticeable mango. Semi-muted nose.
Taste - Passionfruit again and orange with some mango blended in. Plenty of graininess in the malt forward backbone.
Mouthfeel - Smooth and with plenty of carbonation. Sort of juicy and quite crushable.
Overall - Solid IPA that is on the lighter side, good summer IPA.
