Glass: Gordon Biersch 16-oz. Wallenstein glass
From: Gordon Biersch Brewery in San Diego, Calif.
Price: $6.95
Purchased: Jan. 23, 2017
Consumed: Jan. 23, 2017
Reviewed as: Irish Dry Stout
Misc.: Menu read as 4.5 pct. at Gordon Biersch - Mission Valley, not 5.0 pct. like Beer Advocate
This was one of the few ones at Gordon Biersch that I hadn’t had yet and I always love a dry stout.
Poured a black color with 2-to-3 fingers of rocky khaki head when I got it. Light bubbles coming up from the bottom. Excellent foamy lacing. World-class thick retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled roasted coffee, cocoa nibs, semi-sweet chocolate morsels and milk chocolate. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted maybe better than the nose, getting dry cocoa powder, smooth roasted coffee, chocolate milk, semi-charred wood and smoky chocolate. (Taste - 4.00)
Full body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, dry finish. (Feel - 4.00)
This was very good. Glad I stumbled onto it. Would have it again for sure. (Overall - 4.00)
