Copenhagen 8/6 2018. 75 cl bottle from Best of Beers Webshop. Simple black label divulging the name, ABV and amount of beer purchased. And that this is a "Black Saison IPA". Bewildering.
Pours opaque dark brown with a big light tan head. Settles as a thin layer of foam almost covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is dark, roasted and fruity. Dark, roasted malts, freshly grinded coffee beans, plum, tobacco, licorice and some sharp black coffee bitter notes.
Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick texture. A little sticky.
Flavor is medium sweet followed by slightly stronger bitterness. Pretty good balance - slightly on the bitter side. Aftertaste is roasted with a strong bitter touch.
Quite unclear to me whether this is Saison or a Black IPA. But it's potent, roasted and taste quite good. So who cares?
