The aging definetly makes this beer a little on the sweet side. It's almost as if your drinking a meritage of red wine and bourbon. I did not dislike it, but think it was more on the sweet side for my taste. I think this could be a good beer for someone who typically does not like the taste of beer (aka - my wife)

Bottle at one of the American release events @ Beer Table, Brooklyn.
Pours dark brown, almost black, with no real head at all. Translucent around the edges.
Nose is old oak, some roasted barley, a bit of acidity peeking in, hints of coffee.
Taste is lightly acidic, more of that old-ale oakiness, roasted barley, tangy, some light coffee notes, almost meaty. Some tobacco maybe, a bit smoky.
Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, medium bodied, a bit watery around the edges of the palate.
Drinkability is actually nice for what it is. Not what I would call a standard take by any means, and it lacks the richness of some big porters, but tasty nonethless, and unique. Fits well within the rest of the line.
