On tap at Station HO.ST at perfect temperature. From notes.
A - Poured a a deep ruby colour with a beautiful one finger white creamy head. Film of retention and an amazing wall of lace.
S - Dark fruit, some raisins, whiskey. Really inviting, sweet aroma with a nice barrel addition.
T - Dark fruit, raisins, a bit of a spirit note. The hops are definitely there as the style would suggest, but they aren't too aggressive which I really liked. Some port and caramel. Lot's of complexity. Really good.
M - Mild carbonation, fuller side of medium body, and a mildly dry finish.
O/D - A great barleywine. One thing that gets me about American takes on the style is the over hopping, but this avoided that and tasted really great. Very little alcohol came through, very tasty. Really great stuff.

Fred was generous enough to sample this at Mondiale 2011 on the last day, by bottle. I believe it was aged for 3 years. Good malting. Phenomenol nose on it, smooth whiskey cognac. A very nice smooth barleywine. He won a gold medal for it at the Mondiale.
