12 oz bottle poured into traditional pint glass
A - Pours a cloudy, burnt caramel color with a small off white head that fades quickly to a thin layer. Lacing is nice when tipped.
S - Scent is of clean, fresh pine with some citrus accent and good malt sweetness. Not overwhelming in power, but lightly pleasant nonetheless. Toasted sweetness is strong for an IPA, but it makes a nice balance.
T - Strong pine and grapefruit, orange hop flavors, but with more malt balance than I expected. Toasted grain with a bit of caramel sweetness. Mild bitterness at the finish.
M - Heavier body than most IPAs, and not quite as bitter in the aftertaste.
D - An interesting twist of the style that remains drinkable and enjoyable. , although the heavier body wears a bit and makes this less of a sessionable IPA. I will survey this one on tap as well and report back. The beer's freshness was very noticeable, a desirable quality resultant of the brewery being two doors down from the liquor store where it was purchased.
