this is one of the better great divide beers going right now, even one of the better sours in the colorado market. it looks the part, muted brick red without much head. the nose has a nice vanilla sweetness to it, plenty of damp wood, and a classic belgian type sourness to it, acidic without the vinegar nose. the taste is layered well with malt and souring bacteria. its big in body but still rather light on the palate. refreshing almost due to the acidity and more carbonation than it shows visually. there is a lemon kick to the finish, some moderate hops too, and a mellow woody drying swallow. its really really good, as good as some of the proper Flemish ones honestly, and one of the better great divide beers ive had in awhile. cool to see them moving in this direction, they should consider packaging this.

On draft, pours a hazy ruby red/light brown with good carbonation and lots of head initially.
The smell is lots of funk, sweet fruitiness, lots of acid, raisins, and vinegar. The flavor is just as sour, very acidic, red wine vinegar, balanced with some sweet dark fruit, a little tangy and spice on the finish. Clear chalky finish, a little chewy. Overall, this is fine, but could be straightened out to be more refreshing and enjoyable.
