Poured from 750mL bottle into a tulip. This is 85% aged in wine barrels with sauvignon blanc grapes, and 15% aged in gin barrels. Should be interesting!
Appearance: medium gold hue with a light touch of haze and a strong apparent effervescence. There's no head to speak of, what light foam appeared upon pouring having dissipated immediately. The color is nice, though.
Smell: bright, woody, vinous, and earthy, with just a little bit of funk. This thing screams "white wine barrel aged", that's for sure, and if WWBA saisons are your thing you'll love this. For me, it's not bad.
Taste: here we go. Light sourness, a bit of wine character, and a little bit of sweetness to balance out the wood. The wood is pretty strong in this one, and I confess the gin is pretty much lost to me. Not bad, although a little more sweetness might help balance out the strong woody notes.
Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a moderate carbonation and a decent creaminess.
Overall: the bit of tartness to this beer really helps its drinkability. And, I think the more I drink it, the more I like it. Not bad!
