Cask halfpint at The Archibald Simpson (JDW), Aberdeen. Deep golden to brown colour, slightly off-white head, nice lacing. Malty aroma, hints of blackcurrant leaves. Nice malty and fruity flavour, notes of blackcurrants / blackcurrant leaves, some earthy hops.

This beer is brewed every July-August to celebrate the 'Battle of Burton Bridge'.
Hand-pulled pint into a UK pint sleeve in my local Wetherspoons on 8 Aug 2013.
Good looking beer: full on amber with a red hue, on top a deep covering of white foam.
The nose was both fruity and floral hops, with a malty undertone.
The taste also a mixed bag of flavours, with the malts being strong on the tongue than in the aroma. The malts give a sweetness that the hops try to prevent and this produces an interesting blend of flavours of dark berries and biscuit notes.
Not bad at all.

On cask at the Old Courthouse, Coleraine
Pours with a deep rich amber body, coppery highlights. Thick off white head with pretty solid retention, fairly thick and dense. Some thin strands of lacing
Smell, rich sticky malt, some maple syrup and a touch of melted butter. Slightly odd metallic aroma, some hop presence
Taste, thick biting malt. Cadburys chocolate eclairs and golde syrup followed by some slightly metallic hop bitteress, tiny touch of citrus on the finish
A solid effort, a pretty drinkable ale
