This is a light copper-colored English style Pale Ale with a malty character and just a hint of fruitiness balanced by medium hop bitterness. The ale finishes with a pleasant hop flavor and aroma.

Color: very pale, gold tint, seems on the light side of pale ale
Nose: hops come through, very piney seems like centennial
Taste: quick bite of hops than more of a lager taste after
Feel: overly malty for a pale.
Overall: sub part pale ale

as much american style as english style pale here. i get all the grain balance, maris otter type and crystal caramel complexion, but its also hopped with more new world type hops, and is fairly aggressively dosed in that regard, thus making it a nice fusion between the two types of pale ales. a lot of malty heft on the nose, as well as a generous citrus family hop character that cuts it pretty well. the flavor has two distinct identities, with the grain sweetness and richness coming first. its not overly sweet, and has a slight honey flavor to it, as well as an almost graham crackery taste as it moves into the hoppy second half. not sure the varietals, but it seems less english on the hop side, more west coast style, which i like. some oily texture to it, and a sharp citrus finish. medium bodied and average carbonation, feels just like any other beer on the palate, nothing unique there, nothing missing either. overall a very solid pale ale from crow peak.

The Spearbeer is Crow Peak's flagship Spearfish brew. Every now and then, we get distribution to the east side of South Dakota. The rarity of this taproom only beer is part of what makes it such a treat. It's a smooth easy drinker in the summertime, but it can be enjoyed all year long. Make it a point to stop by the brewery in Spearfish, SD next time you find yourself in the Black Hills.

Appearance-the beer is a quite a good looking beer, very british in color and white head

Aroma- the beer smell of slight bitter noble hopped.

Taste-the tast was nice, it was slightly roasted caramel with a good hop bitterness

Overall -this beer is a good example and probably the best offering from this brewery but it is a very safe example of this style and probably wouldnt seek this beer out
