On tap for the 4th Annual LA Beer Week Beer Festival at Union Station in Los Angeles, CA.

Pours a murky golden orange with a foamy bone colored head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, and some tropical fruit aromas. Taste is much the same with a mild spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that has a pretty good tropical fruit presence.

Stone 15th Anniversary Brewers' Reception

San Marcos, CA

Clear and light golden. Thin white cap. Spotted lacing down the glass. This beers looks very thin.

A very floral and sweet aroma--lots of candied sugar, plant stems/buds, passion fruit, and grass.

Somewhat funky flavor that doesn't come together all too well. The beer starts floral (the others around me also drinking this beer described it as "hibiscus"), along with some sweet fruits, earth, and a somewhat grassy, metallic flavor that lingered far after the swallow.

Thin to medium mouthfeel and somewhat metallic.

Not one of my favorites of the evening, though it is unique and I'm glad I tried it...not many beers being brewed with lilikoi.

Ran into the Maui Brewing Company while killing time until our dinner reservations were ready. So ended up going there the next night.
Very easy start, good sweet aroma. There was a very slight bitterness in the aftertaste but was well hidden in the passion fruit sweetness. Found the beer to start like any average golden ale but the aftertaste was what I really liked about it sorta like an ice tea aftertaste.

Made by Maui Brewing Company and served at this very good brewpub. 18 IBU.

Pours a light golden color with a nice creamy head.
A light lilikoi [passion fruit] smell.
There is a light lilikoi background flavor. Finishes with a slight bitterness and some malts. A dry citrus flavor runs throughout.
Nice refreshing mouthfeel. Overall, this is a decent fruit beer [though I prefer Kona's lilikoi due to the stronger flavor]. Worth a try.
