450ml bottle 4,0% Abv.
Served chilled in a snifter.
Purchased at the brewery.
Appearance: Golden-amber body topped by a massive, off-white head that actually displays good retention and leaves some patchy lace.
Smell: Hmmm, this smells interesting, but not at all like a traditional bitter (I guess I shouldn't be surprised though!). A sweet, almost short bread note to start, followed by over ripe fruit, a touch of spice and a very light floral note.
Taste: Pretty watery, but at least it isn't sour! Light fruity notes, a little sweetness and a touch of bitterness in the finish.
Mouthfeel: Light body with a high level of carbonation (way too high for an English style ale in my opinion!).
Overall: As with the other three beers I have had from Hops Hollow, Old Bull Bitter isn't quite right! Though, on the plus side it is at least drinkable.
