Suicide Squeeze *Special EditionSuicide Squeeze *Special Edition
Notes: In 2014, we released an entirely different IPA of similar name. Collaborating again with Seattle’s Suicide Squeeze record label, the brewery has remastered the recipe in a big, big way. Artfully cut like a 7” vinyl, *Special Edition pops with Mosaic, Amarillo, and Citra hops. Front loaded with organic 2-row barley and paired with deep cuts of specialty malt, this IPA is a well-rounded experience. Color-changing Special Edition cans available on a limited basis.

Slightly hazed deep gold color with a short lived white head.
The smell is big hop levels revealing plenty of dank resinous aspects with a bit of the tropical fruit.
The taste is similar to the nose with the addition of some grapefruit zest also.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with good carbonation level. The finish is dry and mostly bitter.
Overall a bold and tasty IPA.

S: Light pulp orange juice. Faint pineapple. Slight stonefruit. Grass jelly. Bread pudding.
T: Peach-ish. Stale orangina. Fresh herbs and wild perilla-like vegetal notes. Slight caramel sweetness. Bready malts.
M: Medium-light body. Soft carb. Crisp-ish.
O: Pretty decent, but nothing to really write home about. The herb / medicinal notes are kind of weird, but you get used to it after a while. Oddly enough my favorite part about the brew was the warming bready malt flavor. This and the one can of Fresh-hop Fresh IPA I have will likely be the last few Fort George Beers I drink in a while.

With the exception of a very tiny suspended particles, Suicide Squeeze Special Edition pours nearly perfect. Deep gold, big foamy white head, excellent retention and lacing.

The aroma is wonderful as well. Dominated by melon and mango, some pine resides in the background with just a smidgen of lightly toasted and buttered bread.

Once again, initially tackled by melon, but grapefruit joins the party almost immediately. A hint of lime, a splash of pine, and a mild hard candy sugar follow.

Delightfully crisp yet lingering resinous feels make me love this texture. Pretty well balanced but definitely favoring bitterness. I'd like to have even more bitterness, but this suits just fine.

My favorite IPA's in this vein have been Beachwood Amalgamator and Block 15 Sticky Hands, and I would put this close to that spectrum. Absolutely delicious and would recommend to any hop head. Cheers!

Bought a 16oz can at PDX grocery store. Canned on 09/13/17.
Pours clear darker gold. Nice foam head, dissipates. Thick lacing.
Citrus aroma. Unlike earlier SS, this one has no distinct maltiness.
Taste is citrus-fruity, dry-bitter, sticky on the tongue.
Reminds me a bit of Joe IPA (SAM vs CAM hops).
Special Edition is an excellent change from the prior recipe....all hoppy, not "partly malty".

Big thumbs up.

Can dated 08/23/17 into a tulip. Also had a draught pour at ABV in Hillsboro.

Solid beer, but it's good not great for my palate and preferences. Lacks dynamic attributes in both the nose and taste for my preferences.

. Reviewing a can with canning date of 04 06 17
From the freshness dated pounder into a Sam Smith's perfect pint glass results in a slightly hazy orange body capped by a nice inch thick fluffy white head that hangs in there for the whole trip.
Aroma is very pungent with tropical fruit forward hops in abundance
Taste follows the aroma closely, Big tropical fruit sweetness some orange or tangerine notes then a slight kicker of bitterness on the end, malt sweetness is evident but not strong. alcohol is well hidden
Certainly one of the more sweet sided IPAs that are in vogue now but the slight bitterness is a very welcome feature which keeps this stellar beer from becoming too cloyingly sweet
Overall a very nice IPA . Buy it when you can!

Light amber color with considerable haziness. Thin ring leaves behind lacing. Smells of fresh hops and citrus. Pineapple, mango, and grapefruit. Balanced taste. Perfect blend of hops and malts. Burst of hops followed by the perfect malt sweetness. Mouthfeel is light. Nothing new that hasn't been done, but definitely world class.

Tarnished brass with pitted rimming snowy froth. 4.25
Lots of oily citrus rind with some Danish butter cookie underneath and a touch of dank. 4
Thread of caramel shortbread then grapefruit, Lemonhedz, bits of cantaloupe + pineapple, a hint of nutmeg and lemon balm with a clean humming linger. 4.25
Light, oily, smooth and creamy. 4.5

For starters, the can says expect sediment but I stored it sideways, on a fridge shelf, though it doesn’t seem to have effected it much. The nose is jumpy, the flavor a bit less so - sorry to have left this sit for a month. But it’s still got some impressively butterfly characteristics: delicate juicy aromas, malts (in that Oregon way) that are defo there but never too sweet, feathery body, and fine grade sandpaper bitterness. Not a hint of 7.2% either, makes this incredibly easy to drink. Flyweight champion IPA. 4.25

Poured out of one of their tall-boy cans -- amber, slightly cloudy. Lots of visible carb bubbles. A two-finger head.

Aroma is clean hoppy citrus. Taste even more so, juice citrus hops. A little bitter. Pineapple, melon, grapefruit predominant. Hoppiness comes in from the side with dank grass and pine half way through, and ends with a hint of resin and spice. Quite delicious, juicy, different. As another reviewer said, the feel is of an Imperial IPA, in that it's got a sweet, also spice, creamy, fruity mouthful.

Overall feel is sweet and boozy. Well balanced. 7.2 is the right spot exactly.

Wonderfully flavorable IPA. Not to be confused with earlier Suicide Squeeze from Fort George. This is the very tropical 7.2 abv "special edition" IPA. Tropical tones wash over any hint of hop bitterness to produce a very pleasant (near-DIPA) quaff. Fluffy pillowy head; restrained oily taste/feel. Worth seeking out.

Bottle share at Steve's. What a way to end the night of mostly sours, with this pungent, citrusy hop bomb. Lots of grapefruit notes, extremely tasty and highly drinkable. 2017 version- Can from Boise Co-op. Medium to dark gold, small fine head. Aroma is primarily dank hops with a hint if sweet malts peeking through. Taste too leans with hops, supported nicely by the malt backbone. Dank without being over the top. Nice!

wow! this is SO EASY to drink!!! great tropical aroma to go with the slightly tangy-bitter and fruitful flavor. this is really good! this needs to be re-named 'special edition' though.... apparently there is another Suicide Squeeze by this brewer..... which isnt as delicious, i understand.

1" white head shows nice resilience and good lacing... the brew is polished golden.

Aroma is a tropical fruit knock-out, yes... no doubt this is hoppy. Pithy orange zest and some additional piney hops also weigh in.

Bruisingly bitter up front and slightly less on the finish... light pale maltiness carry melon and citrus hops ... pretty amazing.

Light body... good carbonation... This one is draining entirely too fast... I will be picking up more for the rest of summer and some coming camping trips.

A monster of an IPA... Certainly a contender for best IPA I have had in a hell of a long time.

16oz tallboy purchased at Total Wine in Spokane Valley, Washington, for $2.49. According to the stamp on the bottom of the can, this was canned on March 31, 2016.

Poured into an old school Sam Adams pint glass, this was an initially fairly clear golden amber color, though things got a little chill-hazed after a couple minutes. There was a decent sized, off-white head that hung around for about the same amount of time.

Pineapple-mango fruity hop esters greeted the schnozz, along with a subordinate piney, “sappy” aroma.

The leadoff is indeed sweet and fruity, as forecast in the aroma, but things are more complex. Midway through, a piney bitterness reaches a position of near-parity with the pineapply flavors and provides balance, before things end on a dry note.

Medium bodied, with a sticky, oily, resiny mouthfeel.

I could drink this all day. It combines the best attributes of a fruity, east coast IPA, but doesn’t forget the more PNW style bitter contrast. Glad this finally showed up in my neck of the woods.

A little bit of blood orange mixed with pine and a smooth hit of dank hops give this golden color ale an intoxicating air of allure. Darn fine beer if you ask me, but may need more then one. A beer a night over several nights to get any great complexity as my hopes were super high over all the buzz on this beer.

Poured 16 oz can into a standard pint glass. Golden color, clear, with a nice head that receded to a thin film. Aroma is orange blossom and grapefruit with hints of malt. The taste is sweeter up front, but has a dank, pungent, & skunky hops kick at the end. Nice aftertaste! Dry and crisp, medium bodied, full of flavor. An excellent beer & worth tasting.
