Another big thanks to Phil! Good people, that guy. Field of Green (Desdemona) is a mighty fine looking beer when NEIPA is taken into consideration. It's a bright vibrant apricot orange. There's no hope of seeing through the body and with that said, it even looks a little creamy. The foam is just off white and silky as can be. It forms a finger on the pour and slowly fades to a skimming and ring leaving behind the microscopic view of, anything really, in lacing along the glass.
Now that's a fruit basket of a beer. Big huge papaya and starfruit kick it off. Sweet mango puree plays quite the role along with fresh orange and pineapple juice. There's an herbal dankness on the backend that breaks up the tropical fruit basket and it's needed to add depth. There's a doughy, sugar cookie backing but not much of a malt profile, which works out just fine because this beer is bursting from the glass as is.
Most of the fruit basket is present in the flavor that's noticeable in the aroma but it's just a tick shy of the same bursting intensity. Papaya and mango lead the way this time. There's some starfruit mixed in sparingly. That herbal dankness is sweaty, it's also soft but runs throughout instead of just on the backend, which I very much enjoy. Pineapple and orange juice show themselves with a light sweetness on the finish. This beer is loaded with bright flavors and that dankness helps drive complexity.
Good mouthfeel on this one. It's moderate in weight and feels plush upfront but an active carbonation quickly catches up and get's the move on. Soft bitterness grabs at the sides of the tongue and while there's a touch of sweetness it dries up fairly quickly on the finish. This can is disappearing fast and that says a lot because I can usually only drink so much of this style in a sitting.
This is a damn fine beer from Fort George. The nose explodes in bright colors. The body catches up after it warms a bit and throws in some sweaty dankness. It's an easy drinker for the style. I'm impressed. Give me mo'!

Desdemona batch pours slightly darker and even more opaque than previous batches, if memory serves (which it usually doesn't). More of dark yellow to orange, with that same frothy and creamy, barely off white, sticky head.
Orange, pineapple, and mango juice served up with a splash of vanilla. Great smell for the style.
Great flavor too. Very fruity yet remarkably soft. And by that, I mean no sharp (acid/bitter/tart) fruit flavors. Just mellow. Sweet mango, pineapple, orange an vanilla, just as the aroma implied, blended like an Orange Julius.
And to play on those flavors perfectly, it's all wrapped up in a creamy, frothy, and smooth texture. Very little bitterness, no alcohol presence, and very full bodied.
Still one of the better juicy IPAs that I've had with each rendition. Not my preferred style, but a good breakfast juice substitute, that's for sure. Cheers.
