500ml bottle at share. Dark, near black pour with a small tan head. Roasty malts in the aroma, along with a healthy dose of bourbon. Taste adds a few new flavors to the roast malts, savory spice, chocolate. Sweet, strong, tasty.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours nearly black, appearing opaque black in the glass with quarter finger, fine khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, Mexican chocolate, vanilla and a slight pepper burn. Flavor is dark toasted malt, Mexican style chocolate (chocolate and cinnamon), hot pepper and a suggestion of vanilla, coffee and bourbon. Finishes with dark malt, milk chocolate, cinnamon lingering mild hot pepper bite. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess and solid mouth feel. A very nice Mexican chocolate inspired stout. Deep, rich malt, fine south of the border chocolate and a touch of hot pepper that does not steal the show from the base stout. A little sweeter than I remember from last year's 1000 Years version, but not by much. The bourbon barrel character is minor. Flavorful and just the right amount of spicy. There was a bit of foaminess in the bottle on opening and a bit more active carbonation than I expected, so although this tastes great now, I'd suggest drinking this sooner than later.
