wow! i am shocked at these poor ratings, i thought this was excellent, and have really been enjoying the haze stuff from these guys lately, maybe more than any other brewery putting them out on the regular at this point, i feel like the city of dreams is among the best in its field, and i liked the optimist too, no reason for the bad scores here as far as i am concerned, the only thing i can think of is that it was too green, too new, when it was first released and reviewed below here by the others, or else there is some can variance, but a month or so in, it seems to have cleaned itself up some, still thick, but seaweed and pea soup are not how i would describe it. a little denser than some others ive had from them, and a little muted in brightness, but still heady and lively looking from the can, active all the way, holds its carbonation well, and doesnt look green or chunky or anything. i think maybe i am not the hugest fan of azacca hops, it always has a funny nose and taste to me when i can identify it in a beer, but the ella and citra are an awesome combination here, more robust in nose than taste, but fresh and delicious on the tongue too. i like this having some bitterness as well, still drinks more like ipa than juice, which isnt always the case with these new england types. i agree its a bit dense to drink on, a little starchy and fatty in feel, but the dankness of the hops is profound, and it needs a big vehicle like this to support, so i cant complain. it would seem unbalanced to me if it were lighter, some of these inevitably have to be sippers not slammers, and thats okay. i liked it more than others i guess, id like to try some others in the series...

Hops in this batch are Ella, Citra, and Azacca. Wheat and flaked wheat give it a murky appearance and gunky taste, so I'd call it the classic "New England" style. Orange Nehi soda is the taste, but there's a harsh acidity that takes over from the fruit. It's like canned peaches with some 151 rum followed by a wire brush on the tongue.

This seems like going overboard with the seaweed soup business. At first it seems like it's not actually as bad in the back of the throat as some of these murk bombs, but then it catches up.

You'd really have to like this style to find this at all drinkable. I'm not sure what you could mix this with that wouldn't ruin a good beer, but I'm going to experiment. From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station in Bellingham.

4pk 16oz cans. $16.
This beer is fresh. "Jasper" code correlates to a March 2/19 release date...so, just over 2 weeks old.

Nowhere.....seriously: NOWHERE! ....not on the can, not on the Fort George website, is this beer described as 'hazy', or 'New England' style, or 'juicy', or anything other than an IPA.
Here's the website description of Field of Greens: "...an exploration of hop-perceptions, pushing the limits of your lupulin receptors".
That description to me screams "hoppy beer!".....NOT "can of baby poop strained thru a sock" ...or "thin, alcoholic pea soup".
So I'm the bearer of the bad news: this is a hazy-as-shi+ NE IPA. aka: marketing garbage.
This stuff is absolutely repulsive looking. Like last night's vomit.
A not-even-close-to-tolerable homebrew, dipped from the primary bucket in college.
Bush league, disgusting, amateurish swill.
I've had hoppier tasting pilsners.
$16....wasted. For $2 more, I could have had 2 6-pks of....well, anything else.
Shame on Fort George. Shame!
