Pale dirty yellow. Desaturated. Nearly clear with sloppy bubbles. Nice big white head that is silken and clean. More egg whites than soap.
Nose is light APA. Grassy and mildly floral with a touch of rich caramel malts. Some light citrus.
Grassy and crisp again. Citrus rind and mild tropical bordering even on some melon. Some grain behind it and the melon/tropical note kind of swells to feel almost boozyish.
Somehow both light and kind of heavy? That doesn't make sense. But it's kind of how it feels. Rich and creamy but also light. It really reminds me of a light old school APA but amped up a bit. There's a little bit of disconcert between the impression and the followthrough. Like It sets up for a light airy summer romp, but then finishes too heavy and almost cloying?
It's better than it gets credit for, but with the talent involved in brewing it I can understand hoping for a little more... something? I dunno.

Poured from a 16 ounce can into a IPA glass.
Look- Straw, hazy, white frothy head, no visible sediment, above average head retention and lacing.
Smell- Citrus, tropical, slightly floral.
Taste- Mildly citrus, slightly piney, unbalanced, taste doesn’t live up to nose, flavor very muted.
Feel- Between thin and medium body, average carbonation, astringent finish that lingers.

Live review, poured into my Delerium Tremens tulip that I hand carried back from Belgium in 2008 from a 16oz can dated 6/28--so it's been in the can for a month. Verified that mine is the Idaho-7 hop varietal via the stamp on the bottom of the can. This is pretty cool actually.
Slight haze, dark burn lemon color. Respectable head that recedes. Lacing is a B-, doesn't leave a line with every sip, but it's still decent.
Dull lemon smell. Hint of earth. Not much else.
Moderate hop bitterness, low-moderate hop flavor. I get some non-specific citrus notes (lemon maybe?). Very little malt flavor. Kind of a dull muddy finish.
Moderate carbonation. Hint of alcohol warmth at the end.
Overall I'm honestly pretty disappointed. I *believe* I had the 3-way IPA on tap over memorial day while I was on vacation in Long Beach, WA. This beer was phenomenal. Maybe that was the citra varietal? Or maybe it was fresher since it was in a keg delivered about 20 minutes from the brewery in Astoria? I don't know much about Idaho 7, but the hop aroma and flavor in this beer are really struggling to present themselves. I'm just getting non-specific citrus as the dominate compound in both aroma and taste, and it's not very interesting. Apparently Idaho 7 is a high alpha hop, which is cool, but either the month this beer has spent in the can has deteriorated a lot OR the hop itself doesn't lend well to aroma and flavor contributions. I'm a little annoyed that I spent 14 dollars on a 4 pack of this. Maybe the other 3 will be better?
