the strata edition of this was really good, and fun to taste next to the cashmere one, which maybe i would give a slight edge to. strata is such an interesting hop, at times both fruity and botanical, and the base beer here seems just perfect to feature it, its hazy and fluffy feeling, never heavy, dry, and super well carbonated, so it drinks easy for its strength and has a lot of nooks and crannies for hops to permeate, and they do. i get some cool almost culinary herbal elements to it, thyme or lemon basil or something, also some orange and lemon rind, green leafy freshness, soft earthy spice, its like got noble elements, southern hemisphere elements, and some northwestern bite as well, definitely the most bitter seeming of the three of these i have now had, even though i know its all or almost all dry hopping. neat early climax on it, and curiously fast finishing even with the intensity of the hops. this is sexy beer, unique and cool, seems like strata has notes of saaz, galaxy, and simcoe all in the mix, and i think the sky is the limit for it. tons of nuance for what seems like a very simple recipe, great with all different kinds of food too. this went down way too easy! a beer they should maybe work into regular production!

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a very hazy, medium yellow amber with a fine, two finger white head with great retention and lacing. Aroma of lightly caramel malt, citrus, tropical fruit and dank hops, mango, lemon, red berry and a little cantaloupe. Flavor is caramel malt, citrus, piney and tropical fruit hops, mixed melon, guava, passion fruit with grapefruit and pine developing in to a very nice hoppy finish that has great lingering bitterness. Medium bodied with light creaminess. I wasn't sure that I was going to get 3 Way this year because it was a hazy, but was assured that this one had a good bitter finish, and I was not led astray. This starts deceptively, a bit laid-back, with lighter fruit character, but slowly builds deeper citrus and pine into a long lingering, resinous finish. One of the uncommon IPAs that I enjoyed the finish more than the initial taste, and I liked the finish a lot. Great introduction to the Strata hop; I look forward to drinking it again.
