Poured from tap at Bailey's Taproom, tasted again from tap at Belmont Station last night. Consistent notes both times.
Pours a solid amber/light tan hue with average head, decent lace, and good carbonation.
Smells of baking spice and that nice squash/pumpkin vegetal note. Nicely perfumed but not well delineated. The spices all come together for a general whiff of baking spice, but I can't really pick out any specific spice notes.
The palate is a huge let down for being a pumpkin ale. It tastes like a great, solid amber/brown ale, but there is really not much spice or pumpkin on the palate. My partner also mentioned this both times we tried it.
Texture is good but the medium sweetness level seems out of place on the palate. Finish is short but good.
Overall this is a good beer, a very good beer. Though as a pumpkin ale it really falls short on the palate. The quest for the great pumpkin ale continues!
