Late last summer, we drove out to Crosby Hop Farm to meet up with our friends from Block 15. We talked about West Coast IPAs, why we’re both fans of the style, and more specifically, the ideal hops for a fantastic spring seasonal. A few lots of Comet & Idaho 7 really stood out that day. And now, you’ll get to enjoy their vibrant flavors & aromas all spring long.

16oz can from Boise Co-op. Clear golden pour, thick fluffy head, lively carbonation. Bready aroma with light fruity notes. Taste is fruity and floral, slightly dry. Light hoppy finish.

Golden yellow body, clear; good carbonation; thick, frothy head, white and lasting. Explosion of tropical fruit scents when popping the can open; papaya and lychee; mango; mild overall sweetness; bubblegum. Light malt flavor with a delicate sweetness; moderate to heavy hop bitterness; very subtle pine resin hop flavor. Medium body; fairly smooth overall; crisp and dry overall.
The initial blast of tropical fruit bode well for a fantastic beer, but the taste didn't continue the tropical fruit theme. Still, the beer looks great and tastes nice, just not as complex as I would have expected.
Pouring temperature: 48 °F; canning info: 04/05/22 #290 DO NOT OVERINFLATE

Canned 4/5/22. Pours deep gold with excellent clarity; long lasting white cap; heavy ring; soapy lacing. Skunky hops nose, some lemon right behind. Lemon grass, skunk weed taste; watery malt base. Thin body, moderate minus carbonation. Overall a skunky hops IPA that runs thin…I would not buy again…a typical over hyped Tavour IPA…one and done…

Look: Nearly clear bright orange with a frothy white head that swells and holds for a bit, slowly settling and leaving sticky lacing behind
Aroma: Peach, oranges, strawberries, papaya, diesel, pine, grapefruit, a little pineapple, gooseberries, and some bready malt
Taste: Pine, mixed berries, and citrus combine forces for the first punch as some tropical fruit notes and Cannabis-like terpenes filter in behind. The hops develop nicely and go back and forth in strength as malt attempts to contain them and closes with pine, citrus, berries, and a bite
Mouthfeel: Full, lightly slick, medium-high carbonation, and finishes with a nice level of dryness – medium, I’d say
Overall: This is a phenomenal beer. Thanks to my fellow BAers for the heads up and notice that this was out and this year’s version was especially good because it definitely is. Two of my favorite and top 5 IPA brewers in the state collaborating on a WCIPA – I’m in. Hits all the right hop notes for me too; pine, citrus, berries, a little weed, lightly tropical and has a little Suicide Squeeze-esque feel to it to boot

16oz can - clear straw-gold pour with a fluffy white head. Strong juicy notes right off the bat; grapefruit, tangerine, dank resin, Jasmine tea, herbal spice, with a somewhat bready malt profile. Interesting and tasty - the Comet and Idaho 7 hops this year are definitely unique.

16 oz can bought from Westside Taphouse in West Salem OR.
Pours a nice crystal clear golden body with a large outrageous frothy white head.
Aroma is slightly unusual. Getting white grape skin. Is there NZ hops in this? Some floral hops also..but the white grape dominates.
Taste the same very NZ vibes.. nice and a bit sweet.
Mouth feel is OK..medium and medium carbonation. But a bit sticky in the end.
OK but way lower than my expectations.

Canned 3/10. Slightly hazy pour, light amber color. Good aroma of floral, stone fruit and a touch of a fruit orchard on a summer's morn. Taste is a clean and crisp hop combination, starting with a well-modulated hop profile and a long finish. Carbonation and mouthfeel are spot-on for this beer. Definitely a top tier IPA from two of the better widely distributed breweries around here.
Definitely worth seeking out and pickup a pair, at least.
