Extremely refreshing Mexican lager. Crisp. Not as much corn as I expected…but it’s there, bringing a touch of sweetness, but well short of “yeech!”. One of the best brews I can imagine on a 90+ degree day anywhere on the planet. Best of all - this pint can was a birthday gift

16oz can

Pours over a finger of white head into my Willi. Retention is average, and the head fades within a few minutes. Lacing is very patchy, but present. Body is a brilliantly bright golden yellow, crystal clear, with a modest amount of bubbles coming up. Looks ok.

Nose has some bready notes, with lighter corn hiding underneath, definitely has a good maltiness to it. Slightly sweet, smells well attenuated though. The nose is very full and even a little heavy, almost like there is a large protein content, the opposite of bright. Overall a little peculiar, but nice.

Flavor is interesting, definitely has a very heavy malt profile for a lager - bready, some corn as well. A touch of grassy hops in the finish add a nice touch. This certainly doesn’t scream Mexican Lager to me, has more of a helles bock feel to it. Still, it’s quite nice and pretty soft on the palate.

Mouthfeel starts off with a medium-high carbonation, and a moderate bitterness that adds some character. However by the end of the palate, we’re focused on the smooth body, and a modest but noticeable sweetness. Despite that slight sweetness, it still drinks very wet and refreshing. Overall the mouthfeel does a lot to enhance this beer.

Drinkability is lovely.

Overall it’s a little off style, but a fun change of pace. The flavor comes out in full force after this warms for 10-20 minutes, and becomes a very enjoyable brew.

love the art, love the name, another good crispy one from these guys, maybe their crispest one yet, at least in my experience, a mexican style lager built for speed and refreshment, excellent execution in a beer that is rightly minimal and clean. clear and shiny, yellow and super carbonated which i love in this style. not a big head or long retention, but it looks good. there is light citrus to this, possible noble hops but its pretty light in that regard, i also dont get a ton of the corn i usually expect in these, almost more pils-esque on the grain side, slight mid palate sweetness but its dry later on, exceptionally dry even, gone on the swallow, super fast finishing, good minerality, crispness, very refined and dialed in on the quality side. as it warms i get a little bit of the lager yeast which adds depth so something very light overall, light grass and lime as it warms too, and its light without being watery, has a smoothness, a mellowness, faint lemon, clover, and dry cereals too, popping carbonation. i did not put a lime in this, but i totally see that working very well too, its not needed but it would sure fit, glad i got a four pack so i can whack a lime in the next one. this is a hot weather drinker, great for summer, and fits in nicely with all the other great lagers they have in their lineup. low key, less nerdy and more approachable than a lot of what else they do, but also has its own vibe, excellent!

Taster flight at Fort George. Bright, clear golden pour, small foamy white head. Aroma is biscuity malts with some adjunct grain notes. Taste is full and clean, bready, biscuity, corn, sweet. Smooth and pretty hefty for a lager. Loved it!

Look: Clear medium to light yellow with a formidable head that explodes and quickly settles to a cratered pillow, leaving behind decent lacing
Aroma: Cereal grains, pilsner malt, light floral hop notes, and soda crackers
Taste: Starts out with a ton of cracker-like malt notes which are followed quickly by floral hops – candytuft, cherry laurel, and room-temp rose stand out. Grains, malt, and floral hops go back and forth throughout and closes with a light sweet note
Mouthfeel: Light but pretty full, very clean, medium-high carbonation, and a crisp, clean finish
Overall: I dig it. A nice cerveza here, hitting the spot on this warm afternoon, and well-made for what it is. Personally, I’ve never quite grabbed or just not fully bought into this style because to me, they frequently taste like a lighter Helles lager or even a Pilsner – both of which I’d grab before a Mexican Lager but never mind me, this is good and quaffable

August is here and light lagers, ice cold, are the style that just fits. This is foreign territory for Ft. George, home of robust ales and powerful stouts. Pours bright and clean, light head, just a hint of hops on the nose. It has the mild taste you'd expect, touch of hops with a modest malt base. Low 4.7 ABV makes it suitable for beach or patio. Good as any, better'n some.
