We thought, we fought, we took votes, we did blind tastings, we did sniff tests and lab tests, color tests and speed tests. After months of conversation with our friends at Ravenna & Alvarado Street, nostalgia for the bygone days of a more see-through beer has won. This year, 3-Way IPA WAS a West Coast Style IPA. But then, we compromised. We’re good partners. And now it’s a NEW ENGLAND STYLE as opaque and inscrutable as our wildest dreams.
2022 3-Way IPA - NEW ENGLAND STYLE, brings waves of nuanced fruit expression into a sea of balanced bitterness for a drink with the density of sunlight.

can into glass
Medium, effervescent , off-white head. Mostly cloudy, light golden color, with a little orange tint. Fermented, mixed tropical fruit, a little tart, mixed citrus juice and peel, in the background, is some medium toasted caramel malt, for the aroma. Fairly thin body and malt presence. Restrained, grapefruit and tangerine peel flavors, with very little, medium light toasted malt, buried underneath the hop flavors.

16oz can at share. Hazy orange golden with a small but sturdy white head. Aroma is fruity, mostly tropical notes, with a few stray citrus elements here and there. Taste is full, more fruit, sweet, mild hoppy character, mango. A head above this year's regular 3-Way release.

Pours two massive fingers of fluffy white head into my Willi glass. Retention is very nice and after five minutes there is still a nice sliver of head. Lacing is lovely. Body is cloudy oj, with a hefty amount of bubbles coming up. Looks wonderful
Maybe some orange and pineapple on the nose. Mostly just citrus rind, which is too abrasive for me.
Flavor is similar at first, lots of citrus, though there is a nice creamy malt element that helps smooth things out considerably. Some mango creeps in over time. The flavor is pretty enjoyable.
Carbonation is quite low, which works surprisingly well and adds to the creaminess. While creamy, it's not particularly heavy bodied. Bitterness is very low. Not particularly sweet or dry, but there are some puckering moments in the finish. Overall a solid mouthfeel.
Drinkability is great. This is tasty, and it's not sweet or abrasive.
Overall a solid IPA that improves as it warms.

Hazy yellowish color with a veil of foam in the goblet. Extravagantly fruity. It’s quite sudsy and sprightly on the tongue, but the sharp mouthfeel is a surprise. It’s not the same unbearable acidity as so many murk bombs, but it’s quite dominating of the finish. Flavors of pineapple, peach, and overlain with green astringency. Hint of malty sweetness but it drinks like a knife slash. From the 16 oz can dated 06/14/2022.

Purple pint can of Forge George 3-way dated 07/26/2022. Served in a pint glass. Very hazy, pale, and loaded with white head. Flavor has some crazy hop flavors: guava, sour melon, flowery perfume, kiwi. And a serious bite, it's almost sour. Super unusual as NE IPAs go. Points for originality, but these flavors just aren't my favorite either for a NE IPA or a regular DIPA.

solid, but somewhat samey, predictably well made from these guys, but i dont think there is much debate, the clear one this year is a superior beer. its got a little more body than it needs, not sloppy and soupy like some of these can be, but its not a drink all four in one sitting thing either, despite being on the dry side and exceptionally well carbonated, just has more heft than is generally appealing in high summer weather. the hops have some bitterness to them, which is a plus is this style for me these days, and there is some of that west coat oily feel to them too, which i guess they just couldnt get away from, and i appreciate that too, its almost a genre hybrid between east and west despite how the label it. the hops dont strike me as overly unique here though, i get some piney simcoe type, a more peachy stone fruity middle hop, and a high alpha type finish for the style, its not radical, it is fresh, and it is exceedingly well made, which is no surprise, but i would not pick this out of the crowd right now as epic or special beyond just being objectively great. i thought the west coast was so refined and pungent that it stood out, even without an insanely unique hop complexion either, this comes in a little under that for me, but similarly well built of course. the body is distracting to me, because it doesnt come with a lot of grain flavor, seems unneeded, the hops dont need the lift they provide it for themselves. the ferment is tidy though which i require in these, and when its nice and cold it hits best i think. overall very good, just not the kind of beer you go stand in line for, which is how people talk about it around here...

Very solid NE offering for this 3-way collab; delightfully hazy with a dull orange-ish hue, moderate creamy off-white head...notes of melon, papaya, mango and pineapple...other fruit flesh...fairly tropical but with notes of citrus fruit as well, sweet and creamy and smooth...low bitterness,

June 15th canning date. As a NEIPA. pours hazy with definite hop forward taste and the long finish NEIPA style. Flavors of tropical fruit predominate. Carbonation is subdued, slightly sweet. It's a good go at the style.

Can from TJs.
A hazy light orange with a dense white head. The nose has papaya, peach and some hop burn. Mild pineapple. Fruity yeast notes are present. The palate opens with a bit of a grassy hop character, melon, papaya, peach, and pineapple. There's thankfully less grass than on the nose. Competent but ultimately, a boring beer.

Poured from a 16 ounce can (dated- 6/6/22, stamped- Purple Haze) into a tulip glass.
Look- Medium gold, very hazy, no visible particulate, frothy white head, average head retention and lacing.
Smell- Clementine, strawberry, mango.
Taste- Clementine, peach, melon, mango.
Feel- Medium body, mild bitterness, mouth watering, very mild astringency, moderately creamy.
Overall- This is a nice clementine forward hazy that is very saliva inducing. Very mild astringency, which is normally the scourge of this type of beer. Very enjoyable drinking experience.

Like pineapple vomit.
I thought I was tasting a bad combo of beer and pinocolada regurgitated together instead it was the New Egland version of the 3 way IPA.
I have been a huge Fort George fan and loved the previous 3 way IPAs in past years not so much with this one.
