wild ale in clear glass? not sure i knew fort george had this in their bag, despite them killing it at just about everything, it was still neat to see this when we visited, and even cooler that they had it flowing on tap, so cool to check out this side of their brewery, and this is lovely, although not as epic as the wild mountain nectarine, which was absolutely stunning. hazy almost crayon purple violet color to this, very little head, and pretty dense for its modest abv. the nose is awesome, tart and bacterial more than funky to me but some of both for sure, a red wine and even ruby port wine decadence to the berries, a little floral lime, and piquant acidity, not sure if this was in oak or not, there are enough tannins from the berries to sort of confuse me in that regard, but it has a definite maturity to it. notes of cranberry and tart blueberries along with obvious blackberry, the lime is behind it but not by much, super compatible fruit elements, vinous all the way too, and without much grain flavor although this has plenty of body and holds on as balanced, and still as beery as it is juicy. the tartness seems like its going to crank at the end but the funk kicks up and adds complexity, this is unique, very fruited, and gives me sort of melted popsicle vibes. flavorful and interesting, kind of summery, sure to evolve interestingly with the clear glass, i hope to crack into one in a year or two to find out! love that these guys are making beer like this!
