On tap at Bailey's last night.
The beer pours a brownish amber color with good head retention and lacing. The nose is pretty outrageous, with plenty of spruce tips, caramel, sweet malt and underlying spice. Based on the nose, I expected a fairly sweet beer, and this definitely is. However, the flavors of caramel, chocolate, sweet orange citrus and vanilla are buoyed very well by a boatload of spice and spuce. Mouthfeel is medium modied with a fairly long, spice filled, moderately sweet finish. Drinkability is pretty good, though the spice, sweetness and fairly high alcohol wear on me after a bit. Still, I thought this a very enjoyable winter warmer/strong ale, and one I wouldn't hesitate to order again. Impressive.

A: Pours into a snifter a brown color, slight head with a little bit of lace down the glass.
S: I can smell peppermint, spruce and caramel...very fragrant beer
T: Tastes somewhat earthy, but i can for sure taste the candycane flavors as well as spruce tips in there.
M: Medium to full bodied beer, very sticky going down
D: This is something new...never had a beer made with candycane/cranberries and a spruce combo before. Very good wintery beer.
