The identifying characteristic of a Fest Beer is that you can drink a lot of it. The identifying characteristic of a Fort George Beer is that it contains hops. The identifying characteristic of a Stoup Beer is that it is delicious. Combine these three dominant beer traits and you get Half Liter: a pleasantly earthy, crisply carbonated, reassuringly toasty Fest Beer brewed by Fort George and Stoup Brewing that you can drink a lot of. Stoup has been brewing in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, Washington since 2013. The Fest comes with the beer, but you have to provide your own Maßkrug.

Look: Medium orange and clear and my pour initiates a booming off-white head that settles down to carpet the top of the beer
Aroma: Freshly baked bread, raw dough, lightly toasted bread, floral hops, a little biscuit, and some honey-like sweetness
Taste: Bready malt and a whole lot of it gets things going with layer upon layer piling onto one another and continuing to develop depth as they do. Floral hops are present throughout and closes with warm bread and dough
Mouthfeel: Full, clean, medium-high carbonation, and clean, crisp, and smooth on the finish
Overall: I dig it. A tasty and well-made Festbier and one I hadn’t had before but glad I did this year. Plenty of bready malt and enough floral hops to fit the style well, all in an easy-to-drink package. Worth a go if you see it

16oz can from Newport Avenue Market. Deep golden pour, active white head fades. Malty, bready aroma, toasty. Taste is bready, crackers, malty. Really delicious with a wonderful feel. Top notch festbier

this is awesome, downright bomb, insanely drinkable, a collaboration with stoup, and i am thankful to have been able to rip a can of this. fort george can do no wrong! definitely among my favorite marzen or festbier types from this fall, its super well refined, real light as these go, but packed with fresh deep grain character, that full spectrum decocted vibe, this seems old worldy and highly authentic to me, and i love the yeast character all through it. richer than blonde but lighter than orange or amber or anything, frothy white headed and with nice ring lacing. its toasty and biscuity and fresh in the nose, mineral forward with good water chemistry setting up a classic lager yeast strain in all its glory, this is simple in a good way, authentic enough to have come from germany, and with a distinct freshness both from the grain and the hops, maybe slightly more hoppy than is conventional, but its plenty well balanced. suggestions of crusty bread, warm soft pretzel, and wet slate in this, herbal hops late, vibrant full malt character but lighter than most oktoberfest types, exceedingly drinkable with a relatively dry finish and spirited carbonation. smooth and clean, flavorful on the yeast side, traditional and extremely professionally assembled. i need more of this while its still fall weather outside! this isnt ever going to be one of the most famous or talked about fort george beers, but it easily could be, its up there with their very best!

16oz can
Pours a small finger of white head into my Willi. Retention is average. Lacing is poor. Body is a somewhat dark shade of gold, crystal clear, with a small amount of bubbles coming up. Looks subpar.
Nose opens up wonderfully with some lovely doughy malt. Faint esters come out with time, along with some lighter grains. I like the deeper half of this, but it smells nice regardless.
Flavor definitely leans on the lighter side, which is honestly more common for this style. Pilsner malt is more prominent than anything doughy, it makes for a pretty light palate when coupled with the hops and esters. These beers are often a little light for my taste, this is no different but it’s a perfectly fine flavor.
Carbonation is extremely high, and it can be hard to overlook at times. Light bodied. Bitterness is low. Bone dry. This mouthfeel is pretty ridiculous - too dry, too much carbonation, definitely kills most of the momentum that the beer had.
Drinkability is ok.
This kind of got worse as I drank it. The flavor is pretty whatever, and the mouthfeel really undermines things. Overall not too great.

A collaboration with Stoup Brewing. Pour is delightful, a clear amber with plenty of carbonation. Not much in the aroma, though. Taste is malty, hints of sweetness. Light bitterness in the finish with a great ensemble of tastes, very refreshing and makes you ready to order a few of these by the liter from the bar in the biergarten. ABV is 5.5%.

Pours a clear pale amber in the small Pilsner glass. Starts with a little warm malt a prickly carbonation. Aroma of straw and roasted grain. The taste is fairly pale with a bit of hoppy edge, but hardly bitter. This is a very lightly flavored but highly quaffable sort of Festbier. The fragrance and mouthfeel give this points for drinkability. From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station. Dated 08/10/23 "To the Brim".
