If you’re friends with a geologist, you know they are going to occasionally give you some choice samples of porphyritic amygdaloidal basalt they found on a hike. Well, when you’re friends with a hop farm, it’s much the same. But with cool new hop products.

This is round two of FOCUS, a collaboration with Crosby Hop Farms, focusing on their choicest Estate-Grown hops and new CGX Lupulin Pellets. Bright fruit flavor and a crisp dry finish to emphasize the sweet, resinous melon flavor of Strata CGX. FOCUS is available this fall in 16 oz 4-packs all over the PNW.

My pour is quite clear with plenty of foam in the New Belgium snifter. Tastes rather malty and thickish on the tongue with enough spritz to give it a lift. Aroma is quite fruity on the orange and melon side. It's a bit sweet on the lips with every sip. A powerful flavor with some serious hops. Dark finish as well as fruity but not too acidic. From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station. Dated 10/10/23.

16oz canned fairly recently, pours out mostly clear with some chill haze, yellowish-gold with a giant white head. Citrusy, stone fruit, grapefruit, lemon and pineapple abound within the hop profile. Decent hop presence with only a light malt body to support.

16oz can from Boise Co-op. Very pale golden pour, fizzy white head. Light citrusy aroma, lemon, grapefruit, floral. Taste is zesty, but looks light, floral notes, mildly astringent. Did not like as much as the Green can.

Pours slightly hazy, golden hues, lightly fluffy white head. Slightly dank, piney resin notes on the nose. Taste follows with bright, tangy, dank, piney hop notes. Crisp, mouth watering, easy sipper.

Canned 9/21. Label says WCIPA, so we see a slightly hazy light amber pour, modest head, thin lacing. Nose is a light fruit and background of toasted bread. The hop flavor is present, but slightly "soft" and doesn't grab you as much as other IPAs might. Finish is quite nice. Carbonation is ok; could be better.

All together, refreshing and highly drinkable.
