unique stout here, cherries, chocolate, and vanilla in a non barrel aged imperial base, somewhat desserty overall, but also tangy enough from the cherries to not hit that sweet, clever in that way, and like all fort george beer, very well crafted. near pitch black and kind of inky looking, almost intimidating, short layer of brown bubbles on top from the tap. the aroma on this is cherry and tang, surprisingly puckery to me, but also natural on the fruit, lots of it, well ahead of vanilla or cocoa nibs for me, but i like these proportions, it stands out from the crowd. in the flavor the base stout has a ton of roast to it, bitter the whole way through, palate coating body but not diabetic. cocoa is neat in here with the dark malt, its also bitter but adds some luxuriousness, as does the vanilla, which is thankfully not overdosed at all, seems fancy to me. love the dark chocolate covered tart cherry complexion this has overall, cherry cordial, and as weird as the tang is at first, i adore it by the end, an almost balsamic thing, umami. the rest of this is full, the bitterness outlasts the sweet, and its super cohesive and well done overall, very cherry forward, loaded with intense dark grains, and awesome for the depths of winter. creative and smart, as always, fort george is easily one of the best breweries in the region if not the nation, they do so many things at a top tier level. dont miss this one, among the better fruited stouts ive had in ages...
