Beer # 3000 on BA.
500ml waxed bottle, 2024 vintage, purchased locally, poured into a snifter.
A: Typical, dark black with a minor half-finger ring of khaki-mocha head.
S: Rich, pleasant depth with identifiable diversity working together well; vanilla and chocolate sweetness, rich bourbon, brown sugar, nutty and complex.
T: This is phenomenal. Reminiscent of Almond Joys or Mounds-bars, rich and decadent without being even close to cloying; milk and dark chocolate, vanilla bean, rich dates and cane sugar, almonds, oaky bourbon warmth bordering on caramel, impressions of coconut and dark fruits. Wow...
MF: Creamy, rich, smooth, not overly chewy or viscous.
O: I think this is the finest Matryoshka variant I've ever sampled; all of the additions work well and are present throughout, the base beer provides a roasty base, at 14% this doesn't seem overly boozy, even at this age, and the sweetness isn't overwhelming at all.
Well done Fort George!
